"Best Little 18 Holes in Texas"
I titled this review with their own slogan because it truly embodies what Melrose delivers in atmosphere, quality, and service.
Melrose doesn’t claim to be a fancy golf club. It’s an intimate, 18-hole, par-3, walking-only course and that’s exactly its charm. The amount of effort the team puts into maintaining and improving the course with the resources they have rivals some of the big-budget clubs I’ve played.
Some golfers may find the greens a little different from what they’re used to, but for me, the serenity of the walk is unmatched. Strolling under ancient oak trees and crepe myrtles, spotting turtles basking by the water, and watching birds flit from branch to branch makes every round restorative.
It’s the perfect atmosphere for both beginners finding their footing and seasoned players looking for a relaxed, enjoyable round. Everyone I’ve met here from staff to fellow golfers has been friendly and welcoming. That sense of community is part of what makes Melrose so special.
Although their clubhouse recently suffered a fire, the resilience and adaptability of the team are inspiring. I’d truly hate to imagine golf in Texas without Melrose. I wouldn’t be the golfer I am today without it.
Come play a round and discover for yourself why this “dive bar” of golf courses is such a hidden gem.
PS* Mari is best! 😊
Course is great- got rained out after 9!
I love this little course! With all the rain we’ve gotten, the course is in the best shape I’ve ever seen and I’ve been playing here for 10+ years. Some of the greens are a bit rough and yet you definitely get your money’s worth! Unfortunately, rain kept us from finishing today and yet that’s not the course’s fault.
Club house Construction in Progress
It was unfortunate to see the Club house caught fire recently other than that everything was same pace of play was relaxed as usual for my Son and I
Special Thanks to Mari for her kindness! We will be back
Begin booked online I called and asked if they rented clubs when I got there I was told the manager had the keys for the club rentals and he did not work on weekends I did not get to play was not refunded my money
Decent course for the price
It’s what you pay for. Main reason to choose this course is to practice iron distances. The greens are worse than the fairway. There’s plenty of fairways better than the greens at this course. It’s a great walking course to play in a 2 hour or less time frame.
Good driving range or for short game work
Finally tried out this course with a deal on GolfNow. I didn’t expect too much given the price tag……..Good - great for working on your short irons 9-putter. There’s one home about 152 yards so you can use a 7, or hybrid, or whatever club works for that distance in your bag. Most holes range from 80 yds - 125 ish. This is the first golf course I’ve been to where they have St. Augustine grass; just an observation. The course layout could be better marked. They do have seating every third or so hole, as this is a walking course. They have push carts to help with this factor for $4; not a bad deal. There’s a little water to contend with but if you hit straight and have the distance, it doesn’t factor in. The greens are the worst thing about this course, if you’d even call them that. There are maybe three that are ok but the rest need urgent help. Pace of play was great as there were few on the course. All that being said, I would come back for the range and for workability of shots.

Melrose
Basic par 3 course in poor to average condition but very inexpensive with friendly staff and decent facilities including driving range.
Par 3 Course
It was perfect for the price to practice your short game. No dress code there, it's a walking course, and they have $4 rentals for a walking cart for your bag. The course walk was enough to walk at a steady pace.
Good times as always at Melrose
Everything went well for me and my kids even this time when busy. We kept pace. We hope to be back again soon. Thanks!
Aylam
I wasn’t disappointed, considering how much I paid to play. Course conditions could be better. It’s like practicing instead of going to a range to hit balls.
Solid par 3 for beginners (not where you’ll learn to putt)
As for the entirety of the course it was a quite fun little par 3. I went early morning and midweek which was nice as nobody was around so as a beginner I was able to take a couple shots without feeling rushed by someone waiting. The greens are rather iffy however which made putting quite hard but as for chipping and hitting with wedges it’s a great course. Not all the greens were the same, some worse than others but definitely a fun easy course for beginners just trying to get into golf.
Fun with friendly staff
The little course is fun with a friendly staff. Great place to learn and pick up the game. The green conditions leave a lot to be desired.
Great Course
18 holes of great golf on this course! Definitely a BANG for your buck!
Our Family’s GO-TO
