Golf Club at Cinco Ranch
About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Great Day!!
The course was the best I have ever seen it, and the weather was in the low 80's...a great day of golf with my Son!!
Nice course, nice conditions
I've played Cinco many times. Hard to beat for condition and location.
Great Course!
It was well maintained course. Great cart with GPS, easy to track other carts and able to send the scorecard to your e-mail account after the game. Not extremely difficult hole, but lots of ups and downs which is hard to get an accurate on green.
Great Time
Everything was great about the course the greens the fairways and the bunkers were all in fabulous condition. Greens were fast but receptive. The course is long and for someone who doesn't hit the ball very far couldn't reach the green on a few par 4's. But will definitely play again!!!
Punishing for incorrect club selection
Know your distances. Multi level greens make for some tough approach shots. Course was in great condition. Had to wait a little bit but teed off at 4 and was done by 730 - for a threesome is decent pace.$40 is excellent value.
Nice course, unfriendly staff
Overall I liked Cinco Ranch. The fairways and greens were in very good shape. Good pace for most of the course. Beautiful environment.
Staff needs some work on customer interaction. They weren't "rude," but I certainty did not feel welcome. Much more of get the cattle out on the course as fast as possible.
Run of the Mill
My impression of this course was this is an early 1990s run of the mill course that was built everywhere to lure in housing and development. That does not mean it is a bad thing, just that this place reeks so much of it.
The only differentiator would be the greens. There were a lot of ridges on the greens. Oftentimes I landed in the wrong quadrant. As a result, I 3 putted four times. Not the courses fault, all mine!
The greens were above average, but not pure. Ball doesn't roll pure due to its bent grass ? not cut down enough. For a simple straight 18 inch putt on a flat surface, the ball would steer off like as if shooting from a bad lead bullet gun from the Civil War.
This place was crammed for a weekday. The parking lot was overstuffed. The staff were running around and I got confused with the cart pick up and figuring out where the 1st hole was. After that, it was all fine.
Would I come back again? Maybe. Maybe not. I have yet to explore so many Houston golf courses.
Thanks! Paul
Golf at Cinco Ranch
Played a warmup round for my upcoming tournament. Showed up early and was disappointed that the driving range was closed. It had rained a lot the night before so somewhat understandable. Putted for about 45 minutes before my round and it helped a lot. It's a nice course with not too much water but still a little difficult for me (24 handicap). I'm trying to get better so these are the types of courses to play. Good experience.
Rude Treatment
The starter was cranky, rude and on a power trip. Bad way to treat your customers. There are so many other good courses in the Houston area.
