Golf Club at Cinco Ranch
About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Great greens and layout
Greens were great and well kept fairways make this an enjoyable course!
If you love slow play then this is for you.
A total lack of marshalling means that this golf course comes to a. complete crawl as beginners. hack their way around, having to make every 3 inch putt. If you like an average 4 hour round then don't bother going here, it will take nearer 4 3/4 hours. We didn't see one Marshall throughout the whole time and yet the starter process was officious in the extreme.
Won't be going back there in a. hurry, in fact nothing happens there in a. hurry.
Great Course
The course was in great shape. Staff was friendly. The diner was slow about bringing our food out to us.Not crowded ,but almost 45 mins for chicken wings.Other than that , we really enjoyed the exprience
Greens are in good shape. Leaking sprinkler is an issue around many of the greens. The last mowing of the year fairways were cut very short creating bald spots in some areas. Pace of play was very slow. Took over 5 hours.
Bumped because of tourney
Arrived early for our 3:12pm tee time. Was informed we had been bumped due to a tournament in progress. Computer error at the course had allowed us to reserve and pay for tee times that couldn't be honored today. The staff was very apologetic and then the their meaning of hospitality came to the forefront. They offered us an additional replacement round on top of the 3 we had already paid for. We had a year to redeem those free rounds plus they threw in range balls to use today in lieu of our round. We spent hours on the range practicing in anticipation of our future replacement rounds. Mistakes happen but the way this was handled on their part, speaks volumes about the importance they place on service. They value their patrons. They gave us reasons to return to this course beyond the free rounds forthcoming. We will definitely be back and we will share this level of service with all our friends. Thanks again for your hospitality!!
S. L. O. W!
5+ hours? I don't agree with allowing 5-somes on the weekends during peek hours, especially high handicap players. Made the round miserable! Counted 7 groups on 2 holes. The marshall did nothing to speed up play, and the starter kept packing em In! We were 25 minutes behind pace when we teed up on #2. Seriously considered quitting, but football sucks right now, so what the he'll. Beer was cold! Really nice greens. It's a shame that they sucked the fun right out of it!
Nice layout, other than having to play cart path only due recent rain, it was an enjoyable round with a good weather. Greens were fast, and some bunkers need to be fixed due hard sand.
A Must Play
The staff is always friendly and the course is in great shape. Adams Tour just played there, a testament to the quality of the course. Could use a Marshall on course to move things along at times.
Definitely a Must Play!!
A Sunday first
Because there was a shortage of carts, I was grouped with 3 others who lived near me and we all had a great time. Pace was slow as the course was crowded on a near perfect day. Round took 4.5 hours, and we finished as it got dark. Course was in very good shape, greens rolled fast and true.
One day public courses will figure out how to treat people
So first off the course is fun and challenging!! But if you like getting treated rudely from the time you check in at the pro shop and see the starter to the time you turn in your cart, THIS IS YOUR PLACE!! If I could have chose negative stars for “staff friendliness” I would have easily chose -5. The ladies in the bar are friendly and reasonably attentive but me and my partner witnessed the assistant pro rolling his eyes at patrons walking out of the pro shop and separately on the phone with people inquiring on lessons. So our cart died completely after 15 holes and after calling 3 different phone numbers with no response, had to rely on our wives to push us back with their cart. When we got back and asked the crew of about 4 waiting on us (assistant pro present again) how they could make it right, we were treated, by that assistant pro, like we were complaining unnecessarily. My concern is that had we been by ourselves, how would we have got back to the clubhouse. I would expect them to either be available by phone, or when I bring it to there attention, treat us like you want our business. Clearly neither is an option. After the situation was elevated they took down our names and stated they would get in touch with us to provide us a complimentary round..........not sure I want to go back as they consistently act like we should kiss their rear if we want to play there. Little do they know that I was in the process of negotiating 3 meetings over January, February and March costing about $1200 each...........I will spend my money elsewhere!! Not that it’s going to put them out of business but I bet I’m not the only one that feels that public course vibe at Cinco Ranch Golf Club, someone needs to tell them it’s not Pine Forest!!
Excellent conditions despite hurricane Harvey
Course was in great shape especially the greens and fairways. Weather was good but pace of play was a little slow for a Tuesday.
