Golf Club at Cinco Ranch
About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Shaping up
The course is shaping up from the winter dormancy, some repairs on the tee boxes, the greens are also in good shape.
There are always some
Mornings are surprisingly quiet, yet pace of play can be slow, worsened by the wind.
However there is no need for lack of etiquette, the group behind had little respect for those on the next tee, and hitting through when we had to wait for the group in front.
Marshall’s? Not in sight
Impressed
It was way better than I imagined. I will be playing here more frequently.
Pace of play
No marshalls going around course to keep pace. Played in 4:45. Played a comparable course the next day in 3:15.
Course was nice, but way to slow to play
Bad Condition, Bad Pace of Play
It was clear this course did not take care of their fairways or greens. Also, they put too many people on the course and do not follow tee times. This leads to a very slow pace of play, leading to a miserable round. Would not recommend choosing this course for the cost.
slow very slow 5 hour round no one monitors the pace of play. tee time ran 15 minutes late. The course it self is in good condition with a nice lay out must be a course you should play on a week day.
Nice Layout with Smooth Greens
Greens in great shape particularly for time of year. Layout nice with rolling terrain, a good bit of sand and water. Distance from blue tees about right, challenging for me (age 56) but not horrendous. I live in NW Houston and chose course between myself and a friend, and took 40min to drive to course vs. my normal 15min, but enjoyed enough that I plan to play here and least a few times per year.
Greens in very good shape
Greens weee in very good shape and rolled true. Fairways were in good shape overall and the few bunkers I was in were descent. Only negative were some of the tee boxes were in rough shape - bare & hard to get a peg in the ground. Finally, some of the carts are slowly being replaced - new gas yamahas.
Slow Slow
At one point it was an hour to play 4 holes. The only reason it went faster is because I teamed up with some nice folks playing ahead of me. Not 1 time did the Marshall come by and check pace of play. I normally play Meadowbrook farms and might just go back to playing there. When I asked for a rain check because I was 2.5 hours into 9 holes and when I drove to the 10th tee, there were 5 guys waiting on the tee box and another 2 carts in the middle of the fairway, I was told a 6 hour round wasn’t uncommon on a public course. I didn’t want to hang around and see what that was like.
Granted, I could have had a free round out or two out here but I didn’t want to use that card as I wanted to be a paying customer and support a local business and a great course that had good reviews. This just might not be the course for me. Greens were in good shape as were the fairways and bunkers. Just didn’t like the pace of play at all.
New owner may ruin this course
We had an 11:54 tee time. Did not tee off until 1:00. Two tournaments, which we were not told about. Gps has been taken out of carts, no ball washers. And of course the price increased. I have played this course for years. This might be my last time.
Good Day for Golf
Another good day at Cinco Ranch. Too bad I couldn't live up to it. Too many penalty strokes. Course was in good condition and it has a great layout. Some holes are very challenging for me but probably not that difficult for a skilled golfer. Very good place to play. Only downside is pace of play was a little slow on the front 9.
Good GC in good location
This is very good GC. Week days are always good. busy in weekends.
Was good
The course was in good shape bunker I was in needed more sand club bottomed out and bounced into the ball. Caused a poor shot but that was the only issue I had. The rest was all good. Will play there again soon.
Roy Orbison round
It was alright, for awhile. Play slowed to a crawl on 15. We decided to skip until we found an opening. Turns out 5 groups were backed up behind a slow foursome on the 17th tee. 18th was wide open, finished at sunset. Others could not.
Defective Cart
The cart that I got didn't have the windshield nor the GPS. I called asking for a replacement and never got it. The price of a great-wor+king condition cart is included/
