Golf Club at Cinco Ranch
About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Pace of play
Very slow. Had to wait on every hole. Tee boxes not in good shape but fairways and greens very good as well as the sand traps.
Nice place w/ easy layout
Course isn't challenging but greens are good and the course is fair.
nice course, handy
good shape for the time of year.
everything is a little thin this time of the year .
Beautiful Thanksgiving Morning Round
Course in very nice condition! Great greens! Had a great time!
Pace of Play
The course was in great condition but the pace of play was very slow! Even after talking with the Marshall it still did not help. Other than that, the round was great.
Dandy round
Played as a single. Course was in good shape and several courteous 4somes let me through making for a quick round. Golf as it should be played.
Cinco in October
Weather was perfect so that always helped. Green are in good shape and the pace of play was surprisingly good. Good time to play there
Generally good shape...
The course was in great shape when I played a week ago. Yesterday, all the greens had sand all over them? As if someone drove a cart around with a leaking bag of sand... Normally this course is in "excellent" shape, but yesterday's round, the greens were a bit rough looking for my liking. Maybe there was a reason for this & I just don't know what that was?? I'll definitely play there again!
Best in Katy
Im biased. This is the first course I played on 10 years ago and I keep coming back. It's nice and very friendly. Good atmosphere all around. Superb help with the GPS in every cart. Excellent Pro-Shop. I would just place more attention to water and snacks we need more access to these.
Best Green's in Katy, Texas Golf
The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch is always fun to play and since the greens have been renovated several years ago it is as best it can be in Katy, Texas.
I just love coming to Golf Club at Cinco Ranch to play a round of golf with friends that live and play golf in Katy, Texas.
Meadowbrook Farms has nothing on Golf Club at Cinco Ranch way to go guys!!!
Great course conditions and pace of play
The golf course was in great shape and we played in less that 4 hours!!!! The entire staff was friendly from the cart girl to the starter.
Thanks for the review and look forward to seeing you soon!!!
first impression
Friendly staff. great course. looking forward to next time.
Like the course but greens in terrible shape!
As title says....I've played here many times over the years. I've always liked the course but the last couple times the greens have been horrible. Not consistent and very sandy.
Good Course, Poor Staff
My wife and I played a 9 hole scramble. We chose a later tee time on golfnow because my wife is still starting out, and she gets nervous around other golfers. We arrived 30 minutes before our tee time and checked in with the starter, who ignored me at the booth for a good minute. Then he opened his sliding glass window and sternly told us to pair up with the single guy who was walking, not riding, to the tee box. I asked if it would be alright if we could tee off at our original time, just the two of us. Before I even finished what I was saying, he cut me off and said no. He said the guy was a fast player (which later we found out he most certainly was not, we'd never seen someone walk so slow) and we needed to pair with him because we are required to pair with people as it makes the course money the more paired groups they have. After more lecturing from him, I walked away and said we would tee off at our original time. We sat there patiently waiting for our time to go. As we waited, we saw the starter let another single tee off all by himself! The hypocritical nature of the starter was infuriating.... Despite the poor manners from the starter, the course was in good shape. My wife and I were able to play our scramble just the two of us as we did our best to not let the ill mannered starter ruin our day.
great course poor course management
One of the best kept courses in S Texas/Houston. unfortunately, not managed very well as of late it seems. Played the front nine as a twosome with an on pace play of 3 hours total. ran into some traffic on 11. foursome in front of us. in front of them was a sixsome, in front of the were two fivesomes.. Cinco has no marshals policing the course, ever. Didn't bother to call the pro shop because of past experience, they showed they really don't care. 90degrees and getting hotter as summer approaching but no drink cart. other problems in the past didn't think i'd be back but pretty sure i won't now. Sad.
Favorite
One of my favorite courses! I learned to play on this course back in 2002..always honored the men and women in the military, police, and firemen.....been one of favorites ever since. Only things that changes over the years is the staff and management. I don't know when they stopped giving military discounts, but I think it sucks. This course is really long. I recommend playing from the white tees for your first round... At some courses you will be able to play from the blue tees...not this course. At almost 7000 yards, you will get all you can handle. The greens have a lot of illusions . Great course ...have fun!
