Stonetree Golf Club

This is a city owned and operated golf course that is every bit as good as private/member owned courses. This summer the heat has been extreme with many days over 100 degrees yet this course has maintained green fairways and greens. The daily rate is very fair and tee times are easy to get what you want. The course personnel are friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this course to anyone.

This is a really one of the best public courses you will ever find. It has been very hot and dry here, and while most courses are brown, the greens at Stonetree are in excellent shape and the fairways are green.

The course layout is interesting, but not overly difficult.

A friendly staff and an impressive practice facility. The course fairways and greens were in excellent condition. A little brown out in the deep rough is expected this time of year.Played in 3.5 hours.

I’ve been meaning to write a review of this course for quite some time. I didn’t have high expectations of anything in Killeen, TX based off of everything I had heard prior to moving here. So I was pleasantly surprised the first time I played Stonetree.

The winter and spring are the best months to play. Their fairways are immaculate during these times. The summer sun and frequent play will take their tole throughout the summer season because everyone wants to play there. Their greens are always smooth but very (humblingly) fast. Tee boxes are best in the area.

The clubhouse sells good products but the grill is always closed. The grill and cart girl (person) are the two things they are missing.

Pace of play can be slow after 9am as it can get very crowded on the weekends. I do not recommend using GolfNow as they are not always sync’d with what the clubhouse is showing. You can show up to the course and have to get shuffled in the crowd. They always find a way to get you in but you can get added to the slow play if they are already busy.

Practice facilities are good: driving range, putting green, and separate chipping area. They even have a driving range just for your short game ~100 and less.

Several tee boxes give the course a challenge for players of all levels. Staff is always friendly and I highly recommend this course.

I play this course all the time and have an annual pass. It has nice practice facilities and is overall a very good course. There is no grill or kitchen and barely any snack food available. My only complaint is that they will hold unannounced tournaments and practice rounds, so can be very crowded. Call first!

A couple of very slow paced groups backed up the pace of play. One group was a three some of poor players the other was a 5 some of competitive players slowing down the pace. Assigned Marshals need to keep an eye on the pace of play.

The fairways are in very good condition as our the greens. The rough is short and easy to play from. Wide open course with few penalties for errant shots (hooks & slices). Fun course with friendly marshalls.

The fairways and greens are in great shape for winter. Greens were fast but in all fairness it was a windy day. There were several spots that were still very soggy. I would recommend playing this course. While it may seem very open it will challenge you.

My golf partner and I have played here before years ago so, we thought we would give it a try again. The facility is nice and the grounds crew was on the course doing some maintenance. We waited to eat lunch until we got to the course but was disappointed to find out the grill was closed.

Course was really good. Over-seeded fairway were plush however the sand traps were horrible, unplayable, and not cared for.

The course is well managed and in great condition especially for January and the freezing weather this past week. For a Sunday pace wasn’t to bad overall another good round on a fun course.

Wish it wasn't so hard for a single to get on via Golfnow. Course is in fine shape. I do wonder why they don't provide sand to fill divots.
