Lighthouse Country Club
About
Located in the town of Kingsland on the shores of Lake LBJ, Lighthouse Country Club features 18 holes set in a charming, hill country in the heart of the Highland Lakes. The course was originally built in 1968, winds through scenic Hill Country property full of oak trees and red granite rock outcroppings. From many points, Packsaddle Mountain, one of the Hill Country's highest points, is in view from many spots on the course.
Lighthouse was formerly named Packsaddle Golf Club until the name changed in the fall of 2011 when new owners Rick & Mercy Howe purchased the bankrupt property and revitalized the golf course. Part of the enhancement was the construction of a brand new lighthouse at the clubhouse. In addition on on-course enhancements, Lighthouse constructed a handful of two-bedroom condos for stay-and-play packages and longer term winter homes.
In addition to the golf course, the facility also features a driving range, short game area and a full restaurant, bar and banquet facility.

Lighthouse - good, challenging course!
Enjoyed our round at Lighthouse, like how the course is laid out and conditions were good for this time of year - will def be back.

Fun Course
I like the layout. Especially like hole #5, surrounded by rocks. Not long but tight and unique. On the day I played the greens were like putting on concrete. They indicated a water pipe broke due to the freeze and were harder because they could not water them.

Fun and challenging
This is one of my favorites. The course layout keeps thing interesting and lots of bunkers and water for the challenge. The fairway grass is super short at this moment, so expect some long rolls. The greens are very fast but your putts can hold the line if you read it correctly. Best bang for your buck in the area with a very helpful staff.

Slow course - rude people
My wife and I went on a golf vacation, playing a different course every day. This was by far the worst experience on our trip. We arrived approximately 45 minutes before our 12:54 tee time. There was an unofficial scramble starting at 12:30. Lots of retirees. We asked if we could go off in front of the large group of regulars and were told no. So...we followed a group of 5. Extremely slow play. We followed this group for 6 holes (2 hours). After our tee shot on hole 6 (the only par 5 on the front 9) I waited 16 minutes to hit my second shot, even though I had to lay up. We picked up and asked he guys in front of us how to get back to the clubhouse. One old-timer begrudgingly told me to just drive up the road, I will see the club house. It was quite a drive on the street, not on the course.
At the club house I let the guy at the counter know we were dissatisfied. He acted as though it was our fault. I acknowledged that since I paid through GolfPass, I knew I could not get a refund. He offered a rain check. We live 6 hours away so that wasn't an option. He gave me 1 logo hat to compensate for 2 rounds of wasted golf, commenting that no one else had told
him it was too slow.
The course itself (the part we saw) is extremely dry (as expected with the drought conditions). The lay out is beautiful but challenging. Each hole has paved cart paths for about 50 feet before giving way to rough packed dirt. The course provided a very nice booklet describing the best way to play each hole. The restaurant is not open this time of year. They were under a boil water notice so no fountain drinks were available. All in all, it was a very unpleasant golfing experience.
I have come to the conclusion that waiting is a part of golf. It happens at 99% of the courses we play! In my opinion it appears the pro shop tried to make things right. Glad you acknowledged the beauty of this course because it is one of our favorites!! Some things are out of a businesses control- for instance a drought, a recent i e storm and a boil notice for water!
Mis lead by GolfNow 4.5 Stars Rating
Only decided to try it out with one hour fifteen minute driving. Course ground condition is about less than one star equivalent! Greens were colored by paint or fertilizer? Greens are very challenge and maybe in better condition in Summer days. Wind was a constant would be a game-postpoding level by PGA standard--- LOL. I would not go back to play again even for free
Sounds to me like you should be upset with the weather and not the course!!!

Really fun, but extremely fast greens
It's a beautiful course with different challenges and fun to play. It was hard because of strong winds and very hard and extremely fast greens.
Great training though.

Very dry.
Winter weather and lack of watering have made the course very dry. You get a lot of roll on the fairways which is good, right? Watch out on the greens. Barely tap it!!!! Fun, nonetheless.

Interesting layout in good conditions with LIGHTNING fast greens. Incredible value, well worth the drive from Austin area. Driving range was pretty bare and uneven, but will def be back ASAP!

One of the Best Hidden Secrets in Texas
I have played this course 3 times now and will continue to make the hour drive up from Austin because this course is so much fun to play. The layout is fun, challenging but fair. The greens are immaculate and lightening fast which is hard to find in central Texas. I would recommend this course to anyone no matter their skill level.
