Lighthouse Country Club
About
Located in the town of Kingsland on the shores of Lake LBJ, Lighthouse Country Club features 18 holes set in a charming, hill country in the heart of the Highland Lakes. The course was originally built in 1968, winds through scenic Hill Country property full of oak trees and red granite rock outcroppings. From many points, Packsaddle Mountain, one of the Hill Country's highest points, is in view from many spots on the course.
Lighthouse was formerly named Packsaddle Golf Club until the name changed in the fall of 2011 when new owners Rick & Mercy Howe purchased the bankrupt property and revitalized the golf course. Part of the enhancement was the construction of a brand new lighthouse at the clubhouse. In addition on on-course enhancements, Lighthouse constructed a handful of two-bedroom condos for stay-and-play packages and longer term winter homes.
In addition to the golf course, the facility also features a driving range, short game area and a full restaurant, bar and banquet facility.

Great Course!
The course was in really good condition! Greens were exceptional!
Great experience. Played from appropriate tbox
Very nice course but the members who let a single join their fore some were amazing as well. Thankful and grateful. Fairways great. Greens great. Stay out of the rough. That's on me.
Shockingly nice course.
When I drove up to the course at 9AM, there were 4 cars in the parking lot. The majority of the facilities were wrapped in caution tape and roof tarps. So, my first impression was, oh crap. Apparently this clubhouse was destroyed during the recent storms.
I checked in and the attendant was very nice and accommodating.
On to the course. The practice facilities were in pretty good shape. They could use a larger practice green though.
Anyway, the course conditions were great. The greens had been sanded recently but it seems like all the courses are doing that monthly which kind of sucks. The greenside bunkers have been replaced with deep grass. Thats not easier but different in a good way.
The only true negative that I have is the maintenance workers, after seeing you're prepared to hit, they make no effort to stop their tractors, get out of the way and be quiet. Several workers in carts ran in front of me with no attempt at any common courtesy. Not all of them, but several.
In closing, it was a fun day and a fun course. I'll be back!
PS. Golfnow for this course acts really weird. Make sure you review the day and date before you hit pay. When I realized the app had switched dates, I called the course 10 times but their phone system doesn't work which may have something to do with only 4 cars in the parking lot.
Improving Everyday
I’ve played Lighthouse over the last year nearly monthly. Despite severe weather setbacks owner is making progress on course improvements. Staff is friendly, greens and fairways continue to improve with the work the grounds keepers are putting in. Great Hill Country Course for those of us who can’t spend $100 a round.
Great course, but very slow
The course is in a great shape and very well maintained. It's a fun and challenging course. The greens are much smaller than the courses I am used to, which is not a bad thing. And the rough was long and tough, again not a bad thing, just some extra challenges.
Not sure if this is a common thing, but our round was very slow. We teed off around 8:30am on a Saturday and took us 5 hours to finish because it's just backed up every hole and we have to wait a couple of minutes every hole.
Course that fits the budget
This course is Amazing for the 60 dollar a person rate!
Layout is amazing with long par 4s and short par 5s incorporating water and natural hazards everywhere
The views of Packsaddle mountain are amazing and the red rock on some of the holes is a beautiful touch to the course design
The only problem I see with the course is that the Bunkers are a tad but in the rocky side but other than that this course is in beautiful condition and at a bargain you can’t go wrong!
Great condition
The course was in great condition. The fairways and greens were both excellent. Our only problem was that we were behind another twosome that hit 2 and sometimes 3 balls almost every shot. A 3 1/2 hour round easily turned into a 4 1/2 round. We caught up to them several times on the tee box thinking they would let us through but no. On one par three one of them hit three tee shots.
Other than these two guys we had a great time.
Fun course outside of Austin
Recently played out here and had a great time! The course was in good shape and the layout was very fun. This course has some unique features like exposed rock faces around green and makes excellent use of the natural landscape. It also presents golfers with risk vs reward shots and makes you think. Fun for golfers of all skill levels. Will definitely be back!
Great Course
This course is a diamond in the rough. Beautiful setting and the course is in excellent shape.
Good Course, Bad Weather
The course is a little off the beaten path in Kingsland, but upon arrival, the course was in quite good shape. The weather was sub-par and we eventually got rained out after playing only 9 holes. Would have liked to play the back nine as the front nine was fun and in good shape. We did get a rain check for the future. In the late spring of 2025, they were hit by a tornado that damaged everything, and the restaurant building is all that is open to the public. But they are making do while they wrestle with the insurance companies. There has been no reduction in course maintenance and the grass on greens and fairways is thick and true. An interesting and fun course layout - first time playing this course. I recommend this course and it was a good value for the money too. Kudos to the staff (Travis was very welcoming) for keeping their heads high and the course operating and in good condition.
Solid priced hidden gem in the hill country
Great track to play. Fairways and greens in great condition. Friendly staff and great pace of play. Defintely will be back!
