Lighthouse Country Club
About
Located in the town of Kingsland on the shores of Lake LBJ, Lighthouse Country Club features 18 holes set in a charming, hill country in the heart of the Highland Lakes. The course was originally built in 1968, winds through scenic Hill Country property full of oak trees and red granite rock outcroppings. From many points, Packsaddle Mountain, one of the Hill Country's highest points, is in view from many spots on the course.
Lighthouse was formerly named Packsaddle Golf Club until the name changed in the fall of 2011 when new owners Rick & Mercy Howe purchased the bankrupt property and revitalized the golf course. Part of the enhancement was the construction of a brand new lighthouse at the clubhouse. In addition on on-course enhancements, Lighthouse constructed a handful of two-bedroom condos for stay-and-play packages and longer term winter homes.
In addition to the golf course, the facility also features a driving range, short game area and a full restaurant, bar and banquet facility.

Love this course
This course is challenging but fair. The employees are friendly and helpful. The carts are great, the food is good, and the price is good.
Lighthouse is worth your time.
I enjoyed my golf at Lighthouse. Each hole has distance or landscape challenges to test you.
Very Good
For late winter course over all in very good shape. Tee boxes really need some work though.
Worth the Drive.
Course is in good shape, well maintained fairways and bunkers, greens were smooth and fast. The local Kingsland residents have a nice course to call their own. Everyone from pro shop to members playing were very friendly and polite. Chris and I will be back since he got his butt whooped and wants a rematch!
Love this Hill Country Secret
Awesome course and staff! Really unique set up and challenging greens. My buddies and I play here regularly and have a great time each visit. Highly recommend it to golf enthusiasts.
Great Hidden Gem
Almost everything about this course is very good. The greens were perfect and fast with great roll, the fairways in very good shape for this time of year.Would recommend this course to anyone wanting a great time playing the game.
Great greens and interesting layout
Some of the best greens in the Austin area. Consistent speed and roll make for great scoring opportunities. Challenging layout with a variety of hole layouts and subtle dangers. Would definitely recommend this course to friends.
Fun but challenging
Fun course with it’s share of challenging holes. Mix of water and woods. 1 green surrounded by red granite that is absolutely stunning.
What a pleasant surprise!
The friendly staff welcomed us and had us on our way quickly. Despite the wet conditions the course was very playable. (I played it down and never had an issue with my lies.). Greens were fast and true. The layout required working the ball off the tees and into the greens. First time I’ve ever seen a greenside hazard consisting of a half-acre of exposed flat rock, fortunately tilted toward the green complex! An exceptional value and interesting story about the history of the course. Will look forward to an early return!
Good hill country course
The gentleman in the Proshop was very polite and helpful. The course is in good shape for winter and greens are rolling pure. Several holes were wet and 9 reduced to a par 3, a little disappointing but overall not bad. The wind always seams to blow at Lighthouses especially on the back 9. We played a golf now round which is reasonable. The daily rates seam to be rising and not enviting, $ 37 for a senior on this course is a little steep. Pace of play was okay with some wait. We did play thru a 3 some on 8 overall for our 4 some 4.5 hours.
Always a good time
Have played this course many times and have to say it is better every time we play it. Although it's winter in the hill country, the course is in great shape. The personnel continue to improve every time we return. We don't live here so are only able to play it once a month. But we rarely miss a chance to play here. You will not be dissappointed!
Best Value In The Hill Country
Play course once a year as part of Austin' First Tee Players Book and then a couple of other times of the year because just love the course.
The course is a lovely setting using the natural terrain. Greens are fast, but true. Some interesting holes without being gimmicky.
I love this course but the greens are like cement. No fun to have to putt on them. Why can't they make them player friendly? Most of us are not pros.
Always a good time
Love this course. Every hole different. Challenging. Beautiful and fun!
Thank you for playing Lighthouse Country Club! We're glad to hear how much you enjoy playing our challenging and fun golf course. Come back soon!
course conditions
several holes were cart path only course due to all of the rain driving range closed course not well marked for distances
You call this a Country Club
While the golf course was OK, it needed many updates, to call this a Country Club is a stretch. This is merely a golf course. There are no amenities to qualify as anything more. Talking with a few locals, seems the owners do not want to spend any money to update and create a true country club. I have seen city municipals with more amenities...I feel for the folks who have this as a home venue..... Don’t show up needing anything like a drink or something from a non-existent pro shop. Bring your own drinks and eats or starve!!! I guess I am spoiled and think a country club is a place for friends to gather before and after a round. Most golf course restaurants/bars make good money. These owners can’t be bothered!
Could not disagree more with this review. We routinely drive from Austin(I am a “country club” member in Austin) and this course is always in great shape. Yes, there are times on every course when maintenance must be done. My advice is do what I have done everywhere I make a tee time, ASK if anything is going on like maintenance or tourneys. This place blows away most “clubs” staff &owners are great.
Interesting to read this review. I totally disagree with your assessment of this COUNTRY CLUB. Every time I have been to this course the snack bar is fully stocked with hot dogs, chips, candy drinks, all kinds of beer, etc. When it comes to renovations the owners have put millions of dollars into the course. You should do your research and look at before pictures and the layout of this course prior to their ownership. Golf courses have scheduled maintenance that must be done and at the time you were there aerification had been done several days before, hence the course was probably not in pristine conditions and discounted prices were given. This course is known as a hidden gem in the Hill Country and people constantly rave about this Country club and the amazing golf course. In my experience almost all of the employees that work at this course are very friendly people.
Nice course. Clubhouse staff seemed to be on a power trip
I booked a 10:30 hotdeal on a Thursday. We got there 30 minutes early and checked in and asked if we might be able to get out early and we were told no as it was part of the early bird deal and we would be paired up with the other twosome who booked the hot deal. So we sat for 30 minutes with no one teeing off. It did not make any sense other than they wanted to punish us for booking a cheaper tee time.
The course is a nice layout and the greens are quick. We are here on vacation and would play the course again but hope someone else is working in the clubhouse.
Best Conditioned Course
You could not find a course in better condition. The greens are unbelievable and the fairways are nearly as good. Play is fairly light so tee times are available and the pace of play is great.
Lighthouse
A beautiful course and layout. The fairways were in excellent condition as were the greens and tee boxes. The greens were lighting fast but perfectly manicured. The only fault I might find was with the sand traps. They were so compacted it was like crushed granite.
I be played this course hundreds of times, the greens are immaculate. They are fast and always in great shape. My suggestion is you practice your putting.
