Lighthouse Country Club
About
Located in the town of Kingsland on the shores of Lake LBJ, Lighthouse Country Club features 18 holes set in a charming, hill country in the heart of the Highland Lakes. The course was originally built in 1968, winds through scenic Hill Country property full of oak trees and red granite rock outcroppings. From many points, Packsaddle Mountain, one of the Hill Country's highest points, is in view from many spots on the course.
Lighthouse was formerly named Packsaddle Golf Club until the name changed in the fall of 2011 when new owners Rick & Mercy Howe purchased the bankrupt property and revitalized the golf course. Part of the enhancement was the construction of a brand new lighthouse at the clubhouse. In addition on on-course enhancements, Lighthouse constructed a handful of two-bedroom condos for stay-and-play packages and longer term winter homes.
In addition to the golf course, the facility also features a driving range, short game area and a full restaurant, bar and banquet facility.

great course
Always enjoy playing at Lighthouse. The course is in great shape especially given it's the winter and we had a week of wet weather recently. The staff makes this the stand out golf experience in the area. They're glad to be there and they're glad you're there as well. I'm not a member and they know my name.
The wheels came off my game on the front nine. Scott, gave me a swing thought to fight through the bad spell and the back nine was better... much better. Never been to a course with such a kind caring staff.
Good value
Greens are not as good as they have been in the Past. Pace of play was ridiculous. Radom grouping 5,3,2, and I even saw a single out there.
good place to play
The course is fun to play-nice greens and great staff
Nice Course
I have played this course many times and always find it in good condition. From tee to green the course is friendly with fairly wide fairways and usually manageable rough. No holes are too long for the average golfer. The defense on this course is the greens. The greens are usually immaculate but there are no flat putts to be found. Use the practice green to warm up before teeing off, it is a good indication of what you will find on the course. The restaurant and bar are really nice. The food is good and reasonably priced.
Understaffed and disorganized
This course hosts a Friday scramble, which began as a shotgun start off the front nine. The pro sent us off the back nine, and when we made the turn, there were three groups stacked in front of us on #1 instead of continuing to start groups off the back. The pro shop attendant blamed Golf Now for poorly communicating with the club about reservations. This is the second time we have encountered scheduling conflicts at this course. We will choose a different Hill Country location for future tee times.
forgot
Forgot to say the only thing I don't like is that they turned #18 into a par 3 .used to be a awesome par 4 .I personally don't like to finish with a par 3.. But as usual its all about the money. Sold property for houses. That said go play you will love it.
new owners
This course was in awesome shape. Staff and new owners have done awesome job .I've played this course for a long time now when it was packsaddle. Greens are so fun to putt.fast but roll true read them right and ya make it.cant wait to play it again. Did not eat there so can't say anything about the food .go play it .
Interesting Course
I really enjoyed the Lighthouse. The tips proved to be somewhat challenging, but not overly so. I did not putt well, but that is to be expected the first time playing a course. This course will be played again soon.
A Super Value
Fairways in outstanding condition - never had a bad lie in my fairway. Greens recently sanded for upcoming tourney, but smooth and fair. Bunkers in fine condition and rough trimmed nicely. Golf Shop and Lounge personnel were very pleasant and helpful. Adult beverages are value-priced. All leading to a very enjoyable round. Only "bumps in the road" are, literally, the bumps in the cart paths and we had to stop to air a cart tire at the turn (while the cart boy watched) and then cart battery gave out on #14 - but a replacement cart soon came and the cart boy sat and smiled as he watched us transfer our bags to the replacement cart. That was a minor glitch, but I was surprised by the disinterested attitude of the cart boy. He would never make it elsewhere.
Excellent Hill Country Course
This is My first time playing this course. It was an enjoyable challenge for me since I am about a 25 handicap. The Granite hole is awesome. The fairways were in excellent shape. The greens were recently sanded and very fast. I enjoyed the course and will play it again.
what ag reat course
The course is in fantastic shape, from tee to green. Will play again and again. burgers were awesome, ending a round of great golf on an awesome course.
Great Shape, Friendly Staff
This course was in the best shape I have ever seen it. From the tee boxes, the fairways were lush, and the greens were smooth and true, and holding quite well for temps in the very high 90's. The staff is very friendly, and the value for the money is great. If I ever win the lottery, I will buy them new cart paths, as they are the only downfall. But I never judge a course on cart paths. Just drive your cart a little slower so you don't spill your beer. They obviously put their money in grass. Bravo!
Best course in hill country
This is definitely my favorite place to play in hill country.
best value and good to great greens. roll is fab.
charming hill country hospitality at its best! course in great shape, greens roll great. views of packsaddle mountain stupendous. miss seeing piles of kids at the pool.
The greens are very "true"
First time playing the golf course, my chiropractor told me about this course last year, and was thrilled with the experience. It's a bit of a drive from Bee Cave, but well worth the jaunt! While the course is not that difficult the greens make it quite challenging and "FUN" to play. We'll be back!
Holy granite we like this Hill Country course!
Play this course. Do it! Pretty much everything was very well kept and in great shape. For a course not in a big city, we were very impressed. Most courses require more play and funding to be this well kept.
The club house and grill were redone in the last year or so and are nicely done. Their grill smelled great but we already had lunch plans.
The driving range was a little more narrow than I'm used to but long enough to handle all of the clubs in your bag. They also have a second area at the opposite end to work on your chip/pitch game. The main practice green had a bit too much undulation but was otherwise in great shape. We also found a second smaller, flat practice green closer to the #10 tee box with a bunker in case you wanted to work on that part of your game.
The cart paths -- some concrete near tee boxes but mostly crushed gravel along the fairways. There are four tee boxes from which to choose. It's certainly not the longest course, but they put in a few twists and turns that'll help even things out.
The fairways were in spectacular shape. They are often lined with small to medium sized trees. There are a number of ponds on the property; you'll have to carry a couple of them. And there's a bunker or two on almost every hole -- some fairway, some greenside. As hard as it is for me to speak nicely of sand, it was at least good sand and the bunkers weren't too deep. The only other hazard you may find here and there are the granite rocks that make up this part of the country. In fact, take an extra minute on #6 to take in how they nestled this green up next to a huge granite mound. The greens all rolled very true and were in perfect shape. They were all good sized and had just enough undulation to keep them from being easy.
We will be back to play this course again!
One of my favorite courses
Played this course for the first time in over a year. Very beautiful fun course. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Very friendly staff. Will play again soon.
Friday Afternoon
Nice course. They have a member game each weekday at 1 so go off before that or it will be slower. Overall like the course and the staff is great.
Pair Up
I have only played this course twice. I paired but both times and each twosome who invited me to join were just the best gentlemen and I am sure we will be friends and golf buddies for a long time as I just moved to the area and need new ones.
