Country View Golf Club
About
Ron Garl came to Lancaster, Texas in 1989 to build Country View G.C., a truly unique course. No. 7 is the most difficult hole -- a long dogleg right with water in play off the tee and in the fairway. Also, get ready for no. 15, a unique par 3 that features a green completely surrounded by huge trees. Most of Country View's tee boxes are elevated and there is water in on over half of the holes.

Sad it too see it in this condition
This course will never be confused with a 5 star establishment but it was sad to see it in this condition. I’ve been playing here on and off for almost 20 years and this was the worst I’ve seen it. The tee boxes were hacked up, hadn’t been mowed in weeks, and it appeared the markers hadn’t been moved.
The fairways were ok, but almost anywhere off the fairway looked like ground under repair.
The greens were about what expected, not award winning but acceptable.
To charge $60 to play this course in this condition is sad. This course has so much potential, with a fun layout, elevated greens, and plenty of risk/reward opportunities. The City of Lancaster could be proud to have this course but at this point it’s a little embarrassing to let it get to this place.
Greens are the real value
The crowd was light for a Friday morning so the pace of play was great, but they have over seeded the tee boxes and probably hadn’t mowed them once and there wasn’t much rough to speak of, yet the greens are in excellent shape and rolling truer than they may ever have in the past with good speed. So overall, from tee to green the course condition is underwhelming but the greens are so good that for the price it would be difficult to beat the value.
Tough course in raw conditions
I had never played this place. Will not play it again. It’s a very difficult course. It needs a better player than me (11hc). Every green is on a 15’ to 30’ elevated green. Any miss on your approach shot must hit exactly on the green with no error or your ball will roll well off the green into water or rough. It’s just not a course layout I enjoyed.
One of my favorite courses. Challenging and fun. Elevated greens on several holes. No bunkers - so they can’t be unkept like at some other courses (Thorntree, I am primarily looking at you…and Waterchase but that course makes up for it). I digress…. Country View is awesome. Staff is the best. It was pristine in the spring but summer weeds have left a mild mark…can’t beat it for the price though
Tough course
This was my 1st time playing this course, my 3rd course played inTexas when visiting my daughter & granddaughter. The overall length of the course is deceptive and shorter than any of the Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania courses I play. I normally play the Sr. tees which average 5,500 yds. This course presented challenges with numerous force carriers and elevated greens sometimes on the same hole. Just enough ponds to present issues forcing me to layup on several shots. Greens were quick & undulating. Great deal, I would play it again. I always thought of Texas as flat, this course dispels that notion.
Had an okay time
This was a very challenging course. Fairways are very narrow, but mostly well kept. Was somewhat difficult to tell the difference between fairways and roughs. Greens were challenging, and pretty well kept. Holes were difficult to navigate, as the layout was very compact between some holes. Scenery was very good on the white course being on the lake. Probably wouldn’t play again until my game significantly improves.
Golf Now Round
Using Golf Now makes this a place to play otherwise overpriced for this course.
Tee boxes not manicured and loaded with weeds. Greens were in great shape. Counter staff always friendly. Manager never speaks or acknowledges guest.
Great Course
Played it for the first time, last Sunday, and really enjoyed myself. Well manicured, with fairways and greens that played very well. Lots of natural beauty to this course. Staff was average, but not unfriendly. If there was one criticism, it’s that the snack cart seemed to be very understocked. Came around twice during our round, and the selection of snacks and sodas was pretty slim. Would definitely recommend, and will be playing again, myself!
Good golf course to play
Came here on the recommendation of the app . Was not disappointed at all . Very nice fairways and greens . Had a great time . I was in Dallas for a seminar .
Would definitely play again in the future .
Course is just ok, peace was super slow!!
The fairways were just ok and some areas were dry and not well maintained.
Greens are ok, small greens and the area around the greens was just ok.
Club personnel is great and very service oriented.
Hot dog review
There were no hot dogs being cooked at the time of my visit/full day. Course was okay, pretty tough layout, and nobody followed tee times. That’s not completely the courses fault though
Stay AWAY
This course is an overall dump. Tee boxes (if you call them that) are overgrown with weeds. Good luck. Greens abysmal. Terrible lies in the fairways. I hated everything about this course. I play 2-3 times a week and will never return. This course should be free to the public. AVOID
