Country View Golf Club
About
Ron Garl came to Lancaster, Texas in 1989 to build Country View G.C., a truly unique course. No. 7 is the most difficult hole -- a long dogleg right with water in play off the tee and in the fairway. Also, get ready for no. 15, a unique par 3 that features a green completely surrounded by huge trees. Most of Country View's tee boxes are elevated and there is water in on over half of the holes.

Fun layout
Super fun layout with hard elevated greens. Lord of spots of with hard patches
Good Deal, Would Play Again
Would definitely recommend an earlier tee time right now with the heat. We started a little after 7 and the last few holes were miserable around 11. Course is in pretty good condition considering the drought. The course being in a flood plain was interesting with elevated tee boxes and greens. The no sand bunkers was nice too.
Our golf group has played at a large number of courses in DFW and Country View has become our go to time and time again. Firstly, staff and management are fantastic and welcoming. I always leave wanting to come back because of it. Then the course itself is well taken care of (especially during times where other courses get out of shape easily), a fun layout and challenging in all the right ways. Not to mention a great value. Will continue to be our go to course in DFW.
Great track! Enjoyed the round.
It’s not long, but it requires you to hit good shots. Greens were aerated a week ago so putting was interesting, however they will be in great shape in a few weeks! I’ll be back for sure!
Challenging but fair
Country View seems to be a city owned golf course that provides a necessary service to the area golfers. The day that I played the greens were recently aerated so I would certainly like a redo. I loved the green complex, undulations and size. The tee markers looked like they hadn’t been moved for a few days as the teeing ground was extremely worn. The fairways were a little long but certainly playable. The areas outside the fairways and around the greens were unkempt, which lead to a 5 1/2 hour round. I can definitely see the potential of the course but it needs a lot maintenance to reach that potential. With that being said, I would definitely play Country View again when the issues are resolved.
Stay Hydrated but No Water Available on Course
It was a very hot day to play golf. While there were snacks and water available at the Club House, No provision was made with the Snack Cart on the Course. In addition, there were signs that said, "No personal coolers, drinks, or food allowed on the course." The staff said it is hot so stay hydrated but made no provision and also prohibited taking our own. This is not a golfer friendly experience.
Well-maintained course
This course is well-maintained. For the price, it may have the best greens of any public course in the DFW area. The staff is very friendly, great amenities and it is a challenging course. I highly recommend this course. It is an old traditional course. Most of the greens are elevated which gets mixed reviews. Give it a play, you won’t be disappointed.
Not Customer Friendly
The sign says “No coolers, drinks, or food allowed on the course.” Yet in 105 degree weather, no beverage cart was provided. I called front desk to ask if beverage cart was coming; answer was “They went home for the day.” I had to drive back to clubhouse to get water. Snack bar was closed too. No ice buckets were provided and I could not bring mine and then no beverage cart came by. It was miserably hot and no water available. Nice course but no customer service. Very poor service.
Elevated Greens and No Need for your Driver
This course has extremely unnecessary elevated greens on every hole. Practically unplayable for a 12+ HC. Also couldn’t hit driver on most par 4 and 5’s due to design and length.
Challenging greens!
I’m a 10 handicap and I thought this course was very challenging. All the greens are elevated so if you aren’t on, you have an uphill flop shot to get on. The conditions of the greens we very great. Receptive but very fast! I’ve never had so many 4 putts and 3 putts ever. It was a bit discouraging by the end. If you can hit the ball long you can easily reach the par 5 in 2. But with the pin locations and green speed, I struggled to make pars. Overall the course is in great shape and the wholes make you really think about shot selection. If you struggle with chipping, I might reconsider this course.
Poor design
Every green and tee box is elevated to the point of being unnecessarily high. Course is also very short and only has a handful of Driver holes. Gimmicky course in my opinion. Greens and Fairways were in good shape though.
