About
While it hasn't received as much publicity as the other Hill Country tracks since it opened around 1990, Crystal Falls Golf Club is definitely worthy of praise. Highlighted by one of the greatest par 3s in Texas and some outstanding topography, this is one of those courses you'll want to play at least once, if only for the views. In addition to the scenery, the main thing everyone talks about here is the severely sloping fairways that provide problems for those who hit the ball left-to-right. The famous par 3 in question is the 192-yard 11th, featuring a phenomenal view and a 200-yard drop to the green. Club selection is a crap-shoot at best, and the green is surrounded by mounds.

Beautiful course
If you are a golfer that enjoys scenic courses, like me, then this is a must in the Austin area. The changes in elevation really make it a fun course to play. As a very average golfer, I found it tough to play, but I enjoyed the challenge. My only complaint was the greens played real slow. It was also cart path only, which was brutal on a 90 degree day.

Fun to play BUT…….
Course was enjoyable but there was NO cold water to drink on-course. With a heat index over 105, this is unacceptable.

A diamond in the rough
Crystal Falls is a hidden gem among the hills of Leander with great elevation changes that provide scenic views. Although it is a great course with a difficult yet attackable layout, the course needs some TCL in course management as the fairways and tee boxes are littered with i filled divots due to the lack of sand provided. The clubhouse could use a much needed facelift along with the golf carts that could help boost the course to stay competitive with nearby courses that offer onscreen GPS and bluetooth capability.

I did not expect the course to have such drastic elevation changes and great views to go along with it. Although it does need better course management due to lack of sand to use because divots cover the course. The golf carts could use an upgrade as well to compete with surrounding courses with updated on screen GPS and bluetooth capability.

Best value course I’ve played in Austin
I was very pleasantly surprised with my experience at Crystal Falls. Interesting lay out with some fun elevated par 3s, good risk reward holes… a shot makers course. Conditions were good, some patchy areas but that’s expected, greens rolled well, staff was friendly and pace of play was good. They were doing a kitchen remodel so the amenities were not there but looks like they are making improvements. Best value of any course I’ve played in the Austin area

Course Wet
Course was wet due to rain the previous day & front nine was closed due to sanding of greens. We played back nine twice for the 18. These conditions added to this challenging course. Our foursome played the course & still had a good time. I should have called the Pro Shop for course condition before leaving the house. But then, we would have missed out of the fun we had.
