About
While it hasn't received as much publicity as the other Hill Country tracks since it opened around 1990, Crystal Falls Golf Club is definitely worthy of praise. Highlighted by one of the greatest par 3s in Texas and some outstanding topography, this is one of those courses you'll want to play at least once, if only for the views. In addition to the scenery, the main thing everyone talks about here is the severely sloping fairways that provide problems for those who hit the ball left-to-right. The famous par 3 in question is the 192-yard 11th, featuring a phenomenal view and a 200-yard drop to the green. Club selection is a crap-shoot at best, and the green is surrounded by mounds.

Challenging course in great shape
I'd only played the course one other time. It was a year ago and I only remember the lousy weather conditions. My most recent round was in perfect weather, so I was able to take in the course. What a treat! The course is pretty tough for a 15-18 handicapper, but not impossible. It's in great shape for late winter. The staff is friendly. My only (minor) criticism is that the driving range is so poorly marked, I assumed that the course didn't have one. I should have asked, but the course may consider more prominent signage. I look forward to playing there again!

Nice corse..a hole regulars
Got stuck behind a fivesome on a Saturday afternoon. No ranger in site. A holes that play every Saturday per staff blocked cart path at 18th hole and would not move. A holes! Will play again, just not Saturday.

A Challenge
Overall, the course was in very good shape for mid-winter. Fairways had some decent grass, and greens were lightening fast. Hadn’t played it in 15 years. It was nicer than I remembered but could still use some work so that decent tee shots don’t end up unfindable. Maybe some strategically placed berms or even bunkers would help.
