Crystal Falls Golf Course
About
While it hasn't received as much publicity as the other Hill Country tracks since it opened around 1990, Crystal Falls Golf Club is definitely worthy of praise. Highlighted by one of the greatest par 3s in Texas and some outstanding topography, this is one of those courses you'll want to play at least once, if only for the views. In addition to the scenery, the main thing everyone talks about here is the severely sloping fairways that provide problems for those who hit the ball left-to-right. The famous par 3 in question is the 192-yard 11th, featuring a phenomenal view and a 200-yard drop to the green. Club selection is a crap-shoot at best, and the green is surrounded by mounds.

11th Hole at Crystal Falls Golf Course, Leander TX Photo submitted by wshowers on 12/02/2012
Forgotten Gem
Haven't played this course in over a year, but it will be rotation again this summer/fall. If you've never played this course, do so soon. Make sure to check your ego in the parking lot. The fairways are nothing to take lightly. The course is not to long, but you must bring accuracy. Otherwise play you slices, hooks, fades, draws, and anything else. Cause the balls will move in many directions.
beautiful course-outstanding scenery
I found alot of unnecessary cart path only especially on the very long par 5s. As a senior citizen (77) I found this aspect of the course very tiring.
Love this course
Staff is great! Course is in great shape, very challenging, greens are VERY fast and with undulations. I play here once a month or so. You can always find a great price or hot deal on Golf Now.
Great challenges
Great challenging course. I would recommend this couse for anyone wanting a challenge to their game. A lot of sloping fairways and pretty tough putting greens.
Also a lot of different driving tees with elevation challenges.
CF 4-23-15
The course was in good shape. I will play there again when I'm in thxe area. I didn't give food & beverage a higher rating because we didn't eat.
Crystal Falls
Very sloped fairways and greens and greens were rock hard.
Fantastic Views
This course has about the most magnificent views I have ever played. I will definitely play it again.
ok course
Course is decent with a few holes not designed very well in my opinion. Most holes are cart path only and cart will quit on you if you stray. We played 6 courses around nw Austin and this was our least favorite.
Course needs cart maintenance and not making extra holes "cart path only"
Good:
- The price myself and my wife got from Golf Now
- The very nice and friendly lady at the club house bar
- The course layout is challenging
- The evidence of their spring aeriation and over-seeding is re-assuring
Bad:
- The DGS (?) GPS system inside the cars need to be re-aligned. Without going over the "CARTS" sign, or traveling more than 5 feet off the actual fairway, we got 5+ annoying beeps or continuous tones telling us we were off the course. One one occasion, the cart completely shut down. I spent the next five minutes having to look up the clubhouse and have them reset my car. All the while, there are groups stacking up behind us.
When the shut down happened I was on the fairway at least 8 feet from the CART sign. Besides being embarassing, it was pretty irritating when after the reset we were subjected to 10 minutes telling us that we were behind pace, we needed to let people pass through, or thank you messages. Beep, beep, beep...
- We all understand that PAR 3 are cart path only, but Crystal Falls also shut down using the cart on three PAR 4;s and one PAR 5 for what the Marshall told us was water. Well guess what, there wasn't a water problem that couldn't have been easily marked off like they did on the 18th hole. On everyone of these holes, I checked at every shot for water or squishyness. Nothing... Thanks Crystal Falls...
- Since when does a $60-70 a player course not have a cooler on the cart?
Tough course with great greens
The course was in decent shape. The greens were fast and rolled very true. This is one of the more challenging courses that I have played in the area. Very few holes that are not guarded by hazards.
Hill country golf
Rained early in the day, but course drained well. Challenging, but fair !
Better than most
Considering the time of year the course was in good shape. I always enjoy this layout because of the variety of hole and the terrain changes.
Augusta's greens are not this difficult
I enjoy playing this course, I like courses that present a challenge and this course always does. However the greens do not have enough grass on them, they are smooth and roll true but for how hilly the course is the greens are just unfair. Balls in my group were rolling all over the place. Bring your light putter until grass gets to grow some more, Course was in great shape for February, just be prepared to have a lot of 3 putts and try and stay below the pins.
Friendly enviroment
This course was fun to play. It had a mixture of easy and challenging holes. Staff was very friendly. The only drawback was there was no beverage cart on the course.
Great Day to play Golf
Who would have expected almost 70 degrees on Jan. 6th? Registered as a single and joined up with 2 gentlemen. Couldn't have turned out any better. Both men were around my age (65ish) and each of them had game. One was local from Lago Vista and the other a retired assistant pro from Torrey Pines. We all challenged each others shots and had a great time with each other. The course was in excellent shape for the time of year. The greens were fair if you had a touch for extremely fast greens. Will definitely return to this course in the future.
Hidden Hill Country Gem
Course was in excellent condition for our round on Christmas eve. Course is fair but challenging with narrow fairways and small, undulating greens. Interesting note is that there are no sander bunkers on the course. Definitely well worth the drive from Austin.
challenging
Some challenging holes. They put sand on the greens and they are fast, you would think they would be slow. Fairways need a bit of water, but not bad for being in a drought.

Have played this course several times, problem was, there was a five some in front of us who never offered a play through. 10 to 15 minute wait per hole. 3 carts followed every players shot. Did not see one marshal the whole 18.
good value thru golf now
Course is really nice and scenic. cant wait to play again.
