Point Venture Golf Club
About
Built along Lake Travis in 1971, Point Venture was the first course in Leander, but has been overshadowed since the opening of Crystal Falls. The course has 9 holes that meander through a residential development and is loaded with dogleg holes and mature trees.
Jimmy Demaret designed the course, and his layout features two nasty par 5s. The best hole on the course is No. 7–a scenic hole that starts from an elevated tee box and plays downhill to a green surrounded by a lake.
Getting there : From I-35, exit FM 1431 and drive west approximately 25 miles to Lago Vista. Turn left on Lohman Ford Rd. and drive 8 miles to the Point Venture guard gate.

This is a tough little golf course!!
It is in great shape, greens are in good shape and fairly fast. My friends and I play there to hone our skills. Fairways are tight with unforgiving oak trees that seem to get in my way frequently!
Good 9 hole course
Even though it's only a 9 hole course, I would rather play Point Venture than the neighboring Lago Vista course, Point Venture is in better shape, especially the greens.
Good spot!
2nd time playing this course and enjoy it still! Only thing I wish this course had was bunkers and water hazards but it's a great beginner/social course to play!
Nice Course!
This place is a hidden gem! Pro Shop bros were cool, staff was friendly and always smiling, and the Caddy Shack is dope! The course is nice but I will admitt, there are a few issues with some of the greens, not all holes, but a couple had some issues. Still was well worth the 40min drive to get away from the city and play a course without so many players like every course in ACL nowadays lol. Will be back to play again soon!
Okay course. Okay pace of play. Overall average experience.
Had a group of 6 in front of us which we waited on for every hole. Was willing to put that aside until we got asked to speed up by a marshall. I thought that was pretty wild. Course was in okay condition. Deer and deer poop everywhere and it is by a sewage treatment plant. So that definitely didn’t help. But it was also pretty cheap. Honestly for a little more money there are a ton of better options in the Austin area.
Worst Greens I Have Every Played
This is the worst greens on a golf course I have ever played. The tee boxes were good and the fairways were great, but it did not matter how well you played, once you got on the green then forget it. They could have placed the pins in the best spots on the green, but it seemed like they chose the spot with no grass and all sand. I would have done better putting on the fairway. I played the course one other time and they were not this bad. I hope they get there stuff together and work on the greens.
Greens need attention
First 3 holes (which are also 10-12) are slick hard clay. Balls would stop near the pin and then seconds to about a minute later started creeping down the green, rolling 10-30 yards back down the fairway. Extremely hard conditions. It would almost be preferable to move the pin to the fairway. Other greens are also in rough shape. Fairways are good. Beer is cold. Carts are cushy. No bunkers, no water, no real hazards at all. Teed off behind a foursome that was extremely slow… 2:45 hrs on first 9.
Course was wet. Stayed on path but grass soaked with dew
