About
Built along Lake Travis in 1971, Point Venture was the first course in Leander, but has been overshadowed since the opening of Crystal Falls. The course has 9 holes that meander through a residential development and is loaded with dogleg holes and mature trees.
Jimmy Demaret designed the course, and his layout features two nasty par 5s. The best hole on the course is No. 7–a scenic hole that starts from an elevated tee box and plays downhill to a green surrounded by a lake.
Getting there : From I-35, exit FM 1431 and drive west approximately 25 miles to Lago Vista. Turn left on Lohman Ford Rd. and drive 8 miles to the Point Venture guard gate.

OK for the price
A frost delay caused a slow start which isn't that bad, but apparently there was a tournament in front of us. This REALLY slowed things down.
There also were a lot of people that didn't understand course etiquette and pace of play. Group in front of us would drop one person off and then take off to play their ball on the other side of the fairway... Which sounds great but they would then wait for the lady to WALK all the way to where the cart now was to turn take off to the next shot.
Another group would park their cart on the approach to the green as they putted, and another had blaring music which was really distracting on the hole with close tee boxes to each other.
There also was a big pile of actual animal crap that had to have been there for while in the tee box. On our second round through it was still there.
That was all the negatives but in general the course was pretty good. This isn't going to win any awards but it was still a fun outing and with no water or sand you still need to navigate some tight fairways and deceptivly fast greens.
Price is also decent especially with the special that was running

Amazing 9 Hole
First time there and had a blast. Staff was amazing and accommodating. I really love the covered area overlooking the driving range. Would definitely recommend.

Point Venture
Very nice little course, well maintained and close to our home on Lake Travis. Enjoyed the peaceful, secluded feeling and staff are very accommodating.

This is a course I continue to go back to. Great for a beginner or novice golfer. Won't offer an advanced golfer much challenge but that's fine with me. Even in this crazy heat this summer they've managed to keep the greens in pretty good shape. Makes me want to move out there!
Point Venture Fun
I did not know what to expect as we traveled out to Lagp Vista but I was pleasantly surprised. The clubhouse is great and the staff very friendly. Nice driving range and the course was in good shape especially with the heat so far this summer it is a long drive out to the course but I recommend it.
