Point Venture Golf Club
About
Built along Lake Travis in 1971, Point Venture was the first course in Leander, but has been overshadowed since the opening of Crystal Falls. The course has 9 holes that meander through a residential development and is loaded with dogleg holes and mature trees.
Jimmy Demaret designed the course, and his layout features two nasty par 5s. The best hole on the course is No. 7–a scenic hole that starts from an elevated tee box and plays downhill to a green surrounded by a lake.
Getting there : From I-35, exit FM 1431 and drive west approximately 25 miles to Lago Vista. Turn left on Lohman Ford Rd. and drive 8 miles to the Point Venture guard gate.

Lots of fun
We got a sweet deal and had a blast. The course is fun and the people were cool.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
good course
This is a great layout. It's pretty tight & fun. The only problem were that the greens & fairways were in not so good shape. That coupled with the fact that the greens crew watered the greens so much that the holes were completely full of water on about half the holes. Having said all that, it wasn't that bad based on the price paid.
PV
Great 9 hole track with good greens. Priced right.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Lovely and friendly
My wife and I just played this nice 9 holes course on our Kingsday!
Great condition and greens
Friendly staff and nice to some members who, like we in Holland , were busy discussing the new clubhouse design
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
6.5 out of 10 (because of the nice greens)
The greens are average to above average, (some spots are toast) but mainly soft and lush, pretty slow except for the downhill, down grain putts. The grass is weird, very green and sticky, not sure what type of grass it is. PV is inexpensive, and great if you want to play on Saturday and did not make a Tee time on Tuesday. The fairways do have some turfgrass on them in spots, but there is a lot of weed, fescue, St. Augustine, etc. I don't understand the solid 4 stars??? It is a definite 3 tho...I consider Lions Muny 3.5 (don't get me wrong, I LOVE muny, but face it, it needs some TLC and it gets 100k rounds played per year). Back to PV... Easy to hit fairways, fairly short course, decent greens, you could score well if you can keep your ball below the hole, if not lots of 3 put bogies...
Brought a friend out to play. He had never played the course. He was totally stoked at the course the views and the condition of the course. And so was I.
I have been playing the Lago Vista Golf Course and they have let it go badly . No grass on the Greens and the Course maintenance seems to be in disarray!
But the Point Venture Course is Pristine in comparison. Thanks for a great afternoon.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Cool little track
Got a great deal on GolfNow so I figured what the heck. Beautiful, remote hill country/lake layout. Fairly tight, greens were small and quick. Course was well maintained, staff was friendly and accommodating. Will absolutely play again.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Good value. Nice views and plenty of wild life. Only negative is 9 holes but no problem at the turn.
Great Course
This is an awesome course, it's layed out nicely. If your trying to improve your game Point Venture is the place to go.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Only 9 holes, but a good layout & we are renting for 2 months in the Point Venture area.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Will never go back again. Scheduled tee times same as ladies tournament . After 9 holes lady's tried to play through ahead of us. One golfer that lives there just drove up and started playing with group ahead of us. Ladies behind us pushing us and hitting balls up on us. That's not the first time but will be the last. Place sucks !!!!!!!
Point venture
Great little course, staff very friendly, course good shape
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Enjoyed this course, fairways nice and greens difficult to putt. Big undulations on the greens, ball rolls smooth. Do not be above the hole because the speed of the greens will raise your score. Want to go back.
Point Venture
Very enjoyable course to play. Not overly difficult, a good course for couples to play. My wife enjoys watching the deer and other wildlife as much as she enjoys playing thr course.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Great Course
All the tees, fairways and greens were excellent. The course is very difficult because the fairways are narrow. They did not have the yard edging on the fairway. So if you did not land on the fairway, your ball stopped quickly in the rough which made it difficult to find and slowed down the pace of play. The greens were very fast and undulating, which made a one put from any place difficult for a first time player.
The problem was drainage on the 8th and 9th hole. This made it very difficult for those that can not hit the precise yardage required to successfully get a par. I am one of those, I could not hit the required distance.
I still highly recommend the course. It is well kept and very picturesque with deer in the way and you have to shoo them away.
It was a great experience, I will play it again.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Good 9-hole course
We rode because of the hot temperature, but would be a good course for walking. The greens are in good shape and the course has trees and topography that make it interesting. There are no bunkers or water hazards, but is a fun course.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Nice and Quiet
I'm glad I made the 40 minute trip. Short course, but nice layout. Nice fairways and tricky greens. Way better shape than I've ever seen Lago Vista or Highlands. You can score well if you manage the course, leaving your driver in the bag. No water or bunkers, but plenty of tree lined holes and dog legs. The only thing keeping it from being a 5 star rating was the rough was long and thick like a US Open, and we all know we're just not that good. So it's a 9 hole course, who cares? No problems with groups letting you play through. Just less than a 4 hour round on a Sunday morning with no Marshalls. If you can't find your weekend tee time at the course you want to play, I suggest heading out to Point Venture. I'll definitely be back.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Awesome!
Excellent 9 hole course. Better be in control of your driver or leave it in the bag. Tight fairways with lots of trees and dog-legs. Fairways and greens in excellent condition. Could easily cost more to play than it does.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
The vews and The Course is great
I don,t like 9 holes only and they don' have good facilitis, But The Course has great vews
