Point Venture Golf Club
About
Built along Lake Travis in 1971, Point Venture was the first course in Leander, but has been overshadowed since the opening of Crystal Falls. The course has 9 holes that meander through a residential development and is loaded with dogleg holes and mature trees.
Jimmy Demaret designed the course, and his layout features two nasty par 5s. The best hole on the course is No. 7–a scenic hole that starts from an elevated tee box and plays downhill to a green surrounded by a lake.
Getting there : From I-35, exit FM 1431 and drive west approximately 25 miles to Lago Vista. Turn left on Lohman Ford Rd. and drive 8 miles to the Point Venture guard gate.

Good 9-hole course
We rode because of the hot temperature, but would be a good course for walking. The greens are in good shape and the course has trees and topography that make it interesting. There are no bunkers or water hazards, but is a fun course.
Nice and Quiet
I'm glad I made the 40 minute trip. Short course, but nice layout. Nice fairways and tricky greens. Way better shape than I've ever seen Lago Vista or Highlands. You can score well if you manage the course, leaving your driver in the bag. No water or bunkers, but plenty of tree lined holes and dog legs. The only thing keeping it from being a 5 star rating was the rough was long and thick like a US Open, and we all know we're just not that good. So it's a 9 hole course, who cares? No problems with groups letting you play through. Just less than a 4 hour round on a Sunday morning with no Marshalls. If you can't find your weekend tee time at the course you want to play, I suggest heading out to Point Venture. I'll definitely be back.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Awesome!
Excellent 9 hole course. Better be in control of your driver or leave it in the bag. Tight fairways with lots of trees and dog-legs. Fairways and greens in excellent condition. Could easily cost more to play than it does.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
The vews and The Course is great
I don,t like 9 holes only and they don' have good facilitis, But The Course has great vews
Best 9 Nine Holes in Northwest Austin
Great Golf Course with great views. This golf course is very well taken care of with this 100 degree weather we been having. Keep up the good work groundskeeper and golf pro.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Beautiful layout!
Playing Point Venture is a awesome challenge for your game! Fairways cut nice with rough staring you on either side. The greens are true to your putting line but a little fast so you have to have the right touch. Nice job PV for excellent course conditions!!
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Fun in the sun
My son and I played Point Venture. There had been excessive rains the previous week and the course was still a little wet. Four of the nine holes were cart path only. The course was also lush and there were deer everywhere. The Golf Now rate was an overall good value even with the course a little wet.
Good course, very pretty
Beautiful golf course in really good condition and great value. Good amenities, good range, a little difficult to get to but worth it. Some tight fairways, some pretty wide open. Have to play the same 9 twice to get in 18 but it was fun. Enjoyable round, well worth the price.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!

Good place to take a beginner
Went to PV after 4 years away on a Sunday. Both pleasantly surprised and dissappointed. The Good- course was in best shape I've seen and the deal on GolfNow made it a bargain for the drive. Many holes are risk/reward but a fun tract to play with mix of doglegs, trees, & few of short par 4's. Greens in really good condition. The Bad- the huge bottleneck at #1 since it's 9 hole course, golfers making the turn assume they are next. We we pushed back 22 min & to make it worse, a group of hackers were 2 groups ahead. After watching them take 7-8 shots each to reach the par 4 #1 green, knew it was going to be torture. After waiting on #2 tee box for 5 min, saw open holes on #5 & 6---we made our way over & played in. Re-teed on #1 after 9---while we are on #2 , I see the slow group teeing off on #5 (after we've played 7 holes) No Marshal around & they were in carts! No one minds a bad golfer, but nobody likes a bad, slow golfer. Probably worth the drive on a weekday but not fun waiting and not golfing.
Great Value
Can't beat this course for the price! Played on a Monday and had the place almost to ourselves. No sand traps or water hazards but narrow fairways to keep it challenging. Great views of the lake, and deer everywhere made it a nice, close get away from the busy suburbs. Definitely coming back!
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Great Value for the Money
Very fun day. Low scores (maybe because it was an easy course) but a great morale booster. Very fast pace of play even though there were several golfers out. We played 18 in a little over 3 hours
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!

one of my favorite places to play, ive never had a bad time
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!

Nice course
Nice course. Most golfers who can hit straight, probably an easy course. Duffers like myself were looking for balls in the woods way too often.
Good greens
The greens were in great shape. This is a fun course to play every time.
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Fun Course
Had a lot of fun but pace was slow because the weather was great and many persons got out to play. Played with some really good guys. Course was much fun.

The Course
I always liked Point Venture. I learned how to play golf there 30 years ago
It's challenging yet not too difficult. People who lives close has a chance for an excellent membership, I wish I live closer
Glad you enjoyed it - see you again soon!
Great conditions at this little gem
Fun little track. Greens and fairways in great shape. Well worth the short drive for the money. Although if you run into a dude with shaggy long grey hair, pass him or you'll be there for a while.
A Little Gem!
This is a neat little course set in a very scenic part of the hill country. Great value!
