Lake Park Golf Course - Championship Course
About
Lake Park Golf Club is located below the Lake Lewisville dam, and was originally known as Oak Ridge Park. Make sure you warm up before your round, because no. 1 goes 465 yards with water in play off the tee. The next notable hole is no. 8, which offers a nice risk-reward situation with two small ponds protecting the green 312 yards away. With the wind, it is definitely driveable. On Lake Park Golf Club's back nine, no. 10 gives you the option to carry the lake with a 230-yard-plus drive, or lay up and leave yourself with a long approach over the water.

Not great - very slow play
Could just be today was a nice Saturday, but this was the slowest course I’ve ever played. There was no help from the staff to move play along - we got stuck behind a group of 4 and 3 that decided to play all together. Very annoying. Have less tee times/space it out to increase speed of play. Pretty sure this is my last time playing this course.
Greens are terrible. They punched them over a month ago and they are still bumpy! The course supervisor didn’t even fill all of the holes in the greens with sand originally. Terrible job of aerating the greens.
Great Course and Service
I teed off at 7am and walked the course in 2 hours 15 minutes.. I never was rushed or slowed by any one and emnjoyed the weather and the course. Only suggestion is to bring bug spray as the sun got stronger they went away but in the early morning a few extra mosquitos.
Good bang for your $$$
Fairly open and easy going course. Outside staff was a little attitudinal But other wise nice experience.
Getting better
Many improvements taking place. The course is pretty easy, but pace of play can be taxing as the are many beginning golfers out there that have no clue on how to speed up play. Poor play is one thing as we all have to start somewhere, but don’t try to copy the pros and their slow play tactics. They are playing for a lot of money. People here are not playing at the Masters.
Greens were recently aerated and bumpy, but still puttable. Overall, a pretty good value for your money.
Nice open layout
Very open course. Driving accuracy not that critical. The greens had just been aerated so they were pretty rough, but suspect they would normally be nice. Enjoyed the course very much.
So much wrong
The first surprise you get is that the CART S NOT INCLUDED IN THE FEES! Also, greens had just been aerated and there was no notice about this and no discount. All greens were chalk full of sand.
Impossible to putt. There were also three groups of 6 out on the course today. Is anybody monitoring this? Several tee box markers were missing. Finally, about the course itself, it is tight. With all of the bad golfers that play here, there all balls whizzing by your head 3 of 4 times per round. People are always coming into your fairway to hit their balls back into their own. Also, lots of very short par 4s. Especially hole 1. Been a while since I've been here. Has turned into the place where people go who play 4 times a year at most.
Good course, poor ops and management
I played on a Friday afternoon. We started around 1:50. First off, there was no starter. People were filing in to a line at the first tee after us. The group I played in has always played slow, but we were able to get a pace going and finished the front 9 in two and a half hours. On the back 9, a couple of groups went ahead of us and we had another backlog of groups waiting. The way that the back 9 sets up, there are fairways and green complexes to the left and right of your hole. People are everywhere. We stopped numerous times to let people get their ball, but we’re surprised when they actually hit a shot back to their hole(sometimes). We were almost hit a few times by these recovery attempts. And then our cart broke down! I called the pro shop and they brought a new one out. We switched carts and tried to keep going only to be overtaken by the groups behind us. After we got to the next tee box, the marshal asked us to speed up, and to play a scramble. Never mind all of the delays letting people hit and our cart breaking down... We finally finished up and got out of there. I’m not going back. Too many rounds being stuffed in that course and too many better places to play for the price. Don’t forget, there is an extra fee for carts!
High-handicapper
Great course for someone who has just begun to play the game of golf. Not too challenging, but not very easy for the beginner. As a high handicapper myself I managed to only lose one ball this round and shoot a low 90 which is an improvement. Greens are fast and the fairways are well kept, I can't make any promises of what the terrain will look like off the fairway.
Wide Open!
This course is literally wide open. Only a couple of holes have water from Lake Lewisville. Pace of play is very quick unless you get stuck behind a slow foursome. Fairways are clean and clear. Good place for beginners!
Great value!
We always play early and it's fairly crowded. It all depends on if you get stuck behind a slow group as far as pace of play. Most of the players out there move along pretty fast, but last time we got stuck behind some slow pokes. The course isn't that difficult which is good for a high handicapper like me. I usually leave feeling pretty good about my game, and don't lose many balls. The course is very well kept, and maintained for pace of play and ease of play. Love playing there.
