Hidden Falls Golf Club is a Leon Howard design that opened in 1974. The course cuts through a pecan grove on the front and what seems like an ocean of water on the back, creating two totally different golf experiences. Howard uncharacteristically left out water on the tight, pecan-lined front, with the wet stuff in play on only one hole. However this one pond plays a role in the best hole on the course, no. 4, which features a pond and waterfall in the landing area off the tee. No. 4 is rated as the most difficult. The more open back nine is dominated by water. No. 10 starts off with a drive of 200-yards-plus over the pond fronting the tee. A small creek comes into play on the next three holes, which lead you to the other signature hole, no. 14. Water lines the left side of the 14th, and the approach is over a small pond. If that's not enough, the final three holes all feature water in play off the tee.

A great time

This is a great value! The course isn’t long but it has a lot of character. Speaking of character(s), the staff is what separates Hidden Falls from everywhere else. David and his team go the extra mile to insure your experience is top-notch.

Good Course, almost Great

The staff was very accommodating and friendly, pace of play was average and the greens rolled true but a tad slow. The course has benefited from all the rain we’ve had recently. That rain appears to have provided the good grass and the weeds lots of nutrients. After a couple weeks of playing catch-up with the mowers and rollers I think this course will be firing on all cylinders. I’m looking forward to another round soon.

Great staff, challenging course

First off, the staff in the clubhouse and restaurant are the best, combined better than any course I have ever played.

It was rainy, then misty off and on with a cold front that came in while we were on the back 9. But still enjoyed this course.

The course requires you to think about your tee shot on a majority of holes, you cant go in and just try and hit it as long as you can, that will get you in trouble. (especially the back 9).

I enjoyed the course and definitely want to play when the weather cooperates.

They over-seeded earlier in Oct., so the tee boxes, greens and fairways need a mowing soon but understandable given the over-seeding.

Great burger and fries in the restaurant.

Gimme Some Water!

Needs some work. I think their mower is broken? Hard to tell the difference between Fairway and the Rough. Tee boxes are like a jungle. Greens need to be rolled and weeded. Other than that, the Layout is pretty fun.

bad customer service

I purchased t-time on line as required. However 4 days before play I had to cancel with pro shop. I was told I had to get refund from on line company.Even though Hidden Falls received my purchase, they would not let me reschedule. There is a reason they are not busy,no rease they would not let me walk on. 3rd tier country course, Legends course much more professional.

Great Course

Staff was amazing as well as the people golfing. Greens were a little long grassed but other than that it was amazing play.

Disappointed expectations

The reason I booked this round was based on the majority of 4 star reviews. After the hour plus commute from Austin, I was disappointed with the course conditions. The driving range is St. Augustine grass. St. Augustine has crept into the fairways and greens as well. There are other weeds or clover in the greens as well. The greens are ultra slow and bumpy as a result. Although the price was fair, it was not worth the 2+ hours of driving in the car round trip.

Always nice cared for course - Nicest staff around

The pro shop is AWAYS super friendly.

Course is always green, even in this year’s heat. No bare spots. Greens are a bit slow, but they are consistent.

Always a good time and great value!! Worth the hour drive from Austin.

Has Potential, but Needs Work

Had a good deal for a morning tee time on Labor Day weekend, snagged the opportunity to get away from the city for part of the day. Pro shop manager and course marshal were friendly and welcoming. Free range balls, grass range - lots of positives to start the day.

However, course was already backed up at at 830AM, pace of play was poor (waiting on pretty much every hole) until middle of the back nine, as we jumped one of the problematic groups at the turn, and then another one of the laggard groups in front eventually bailed about 13/14.

Course itself was pretty beat up, really suffering from the multi-month drought/heat impacting central Texas currently. Some courses have been able to make it through relatively unscathed (though I'm sure requiring considerable effort/investment), but unfortunately Hidden Falls has not. Hard as a rock/desert/fully brown stretches on much of the course. Greens terribly inconsistent. Tee boxes in rough condition.

At its best, I think the price is fair - a $55 morning round on the weekend is a good value for a smaller public, real-estate type of course like this, a bit out of the way... but wait for conditions to improve substantially. There are courses in much better shape / more interesting layout within an hour radius for the time being, for a marginally higher cost.

Perfect still

All tee boxes and greens are in perfect condition. Only the fringes of the fairways are brown. No temporary greens either. How they do it I can't tell but the course is in wonderful condition still.
