About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Greens Overtaken by Poa Annua
Rough roll on greens due to invasion of Poa annua grass which is a nuisance. Otherwise, I enjoyed the course.

Disappointed
Always has been one of my favorite courses however this time the greens were in horrible conditions. Many of them had no grass at all, I was told it was because they get a lot of play? Well all the courses in this area do too but they have grass growing just fine. Also, the fairways looked like they have not been given any attention is quite a while? I will wait a couple months before going back and hopefully they will have a better handle on the courses care.

Oak Hollow
Fairways in good shape. GREENS need a lot of work. At least 3 different types of grass and bumpy. It will be a fun course when the greens are manicured correctly.

Oak Hollow Tragedy
This time last year the course was in better condition. The greens are terrible and not worth the money to play. The pace of play was so terrible that I was walking and still waiting on two groups in front of me. It’s hard to believe that I paid money to play here.
We apologize for the pace of play issue and the course conditions you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Course is in good shape for the time of the year. Staff as always is / was awesome. Please consider moving the red /gold tee boxes on holes 4 and 5 across the opposite of the cart path and the red / gold tee box on 10 closer to the center of the fairway. There are trees directly in front of the tee boxes. Also on weekends and holidays, please consider starting on hole 10. The traffic flow gets congested due to golfers wanting to stop by the pro shop at the turn. As you know at Oak Hollow it's a there and back travel and not a pass by as with most other courses.

Skip This Course
The tee boxes were in better condition than the greens. Really wide open, which can be a plus if you spray it all over the course. But if you are looking for a good round, skip this place, the condition of the entire course was abysmal.

Course Conditions
Understanding the time of year and working in the golf profession. The course had gotten a lot of rain that morning. The biggest issue was condition of greens. There is a lot of in flux of other grass growth, causing a significant bumps. I will try the course again once it warms up some more. Also putting green is non existent right now after being re-done.

Might just be the worst course in Texas
This place has so much potential. Will definitely be going somewhere else for the rates this place charges and the quality of the course

Needs to recover!
Conditions are a bit rough at this time due to the extreme cold we had a month ago. The greens are the worse I've seen for this course in a year. Hopefully they will recover as we get into the warmer months which are around the corner. It appears they are doing some improvements in the practice area though not sure on timing for completion. If you looking for a course to get out and play a round but not keep score this course in its current condition will do the trick.

Good luck! The course was pretty rough. The marshal was doing his job. Always good to see. The course maintenance employees were definitely were not. Have fun! We are playing golf in early spring!

Easy Sunday
The experience in the clubhouse to kick off the daywas great. attentive friendly and make you feel like you are home.. then the Marshall was good with tips and getting us on quickly.
Love hols 8 and 9. Winter courses hard too be great. Greens were firm. Course held up well with rain.
