Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Love this course
Always love playing this course. Today, the outside men's restroom by the clubhouse was just horrific, nastiest rest room I have ever seen and smelled.
Course is in the best shape I have ever seen it!
Steve I love that you guys have worked so hard on this public course! Greens, tee boxes and fairways are in amazing shape. I like that you let the grass grow out in the out of bounds which makes the course harder somewhat. We will be back! Friendly staff and cart girls!
Bad day of golf
Asside from the greens, the course was im terrinle shape. All of the ball washers were broken. The pace of play was very slow mainly because most fairways and some entire holes, tee to green, were no access to carts. The were no marshalls on the course and there were 4 sitting outside the clubhouse after I finished my 5 hour round. Bad experiemce
Could be better
Well designed, really good greens, lots of elevation, not so good fairways and rough. For some reason, the non-green areas are not sufficiently watered, weeded or fertilized. lies in the fairway are much tighter than intended and lies in the rough are frequently hard pan dirt. Prices have risen this year, which is absurd. A big plus is that the course is walk-able when the weather is cool.
Deplorable pace of play
I love the course layout, except for #8. The conditions are good and the staff very friendly. Pace of play is always an issue on the weekends, but this past Saturday beat any previous round. We waited for every shot at every hole and the front nine ended up taking 2 hours an forty five minutes. I gave up and went home when we got to #10 amd saw 2 groups waiting to tee off.
Nice Twilight Rate Course
The day we played there had been significant rain. Surprisingly the course had soaked up most of it. Considering how much we got the course was in great shape. Holes 5/14 are a bit confusing, however compared to a Sherrill Park, much easier to follow. Challenging layouts but not not a ton of unplayable lies. Would definitely recommend at a twilight or weekday rate.
No water
97 degrees when we played and not a water jug with any water in it and no cart girl. It was not the water filters they say were installed either. Jugs were empty!
Friendly municipal course
If you remember that Oak Hollow is a city owned municipal course, you will realize it's a fun, not too difficult course, with enough challenges for the better player to keep things interesting. Deceptively wide open in appearance, there is enough trouble to get into to keep your attention. Usually pretty well kept with reasonable greens. Staff is always friendly. For the price, it's hard to beat for the regular golfer like me. Come play and enjoy!
Great Tract
Played in 4.5 hours but it was a Saturday. Even with recent heat and lack of rain, greens were in great shape but a little slow. All but one fairway was also in great shape, with some rain and speeding up the greens it would be easy to add a star. Staff is always friendly and the cart girl always seemed to show up at the correct time. Only big issue especially in this heat, all water coolers were dry! No excuse for this.
Good layout
Course has been worked on since last time I played
Best scoring round ever played! Greens in great condition.
Great fun
The course is quite enjoyable. Even errant shots you can easily recover. Hole #8 us always a challenge. The staff and clubhouse is wonderful. They are always friendly and helpful. The grill is small but puts are quality food. I suggest to all my friends and plan on returning very soon.
A nice walk in the park
Our tee time was 7:17am and we finished around 11am. It was a fun round and there are some tough shots that you will have to make. Great value for your money and well worth the trip
Will never play again...
My daughter was playing an NTPGA Jr Tournament in the morning. Her group was one of the last to tee off and by the time they got around to finish on the front 9 the course had allowed regular players to start playing in the middle of tournament play. Those player were very rude, causing delay in play resulting in warnings from officials until they realized it was regular players mixed into the tournament . Those players were constantly hitting upon us in the fairway and on the greens. Very un-sportsman. I use to take my daughter somewhat often since it is close to home. Will never play again nor allow play in tournament there either.
Not bad for the price.
Nice course. Pace of play was good even though it was Fathers Day. Staff was helpful and friendly. I would play here again for the price it is a nice course.
Very Good course
A good breeze helps playing this course. A simple start to the toughest hole in Texas (8).
Course was in good shape. Very challanging would recommend to a friend. Staff was very good.
