Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Fairway Condition
The fairways are better this year. The grass around the greens seem to be more plush. Overall this is a good course for the intermediate or beginner golfer.
They have come a long way
I've played here before, but it was about 10 years ago. The course has been receiving a lot of TLC and it is in great shape. The greens are in better shape than a lot of the more expensive courses. This is a GREAT value for your money.
Great
Had a great time. Challenging course. Staff very pleasent.
No Marshals, Poor Conditios
I understand this is a muni course and hiring city workers and volunteers to run it is a given, but this course could be a gem and a great revenue generator for the city if somebody gave a crap about the place!
The City of McKinney invested in a new clubhouse and carts but it’s the quality of the course that’s going to attract golfers more than anything.
Please train the grounds crew how to let the fairways grow. They are cut way too thin! Barely any grass in the fairways!
The greens are terrible! Very bumpy and uneven!
Train your employees!! Teach them basic greenskeeping! They’re not mowing a park. It’s a golf course. There’s a difference!
This is a very nice golf course. The first four holes are just about average. However, from hole #4 to18, this golf course becomes very nice and challenging. Layout is very appealing, fairways and greens are well-maintained. The staff is very courteous and friendly too. I always enjoy playing golf here.
Muddy and not well groomed.
They had too many groups, too close together and the course was very muddy even though it hasn’t rained in 2 weeks. The layout causes a lot of people who overshoot greens to be playing into your hole’s fairway or green.
Enjoyed the round
It was Memorial Day so course was crowded but I expected it to be. There was no beverage cart as the cart girl was a no show. That was disappointing. Course was in good condition. Some really interesting holes.
Don’t waste your money
Well with being friends on Facebook with this course and constantly receiving messages on how great and good the conditions are if Oakhollow. I have to say I haven’t played a more ridiculous kept golf course since the last days of TWU golf course .. and they tore it down three weeks later. The greens are absolutely terrible long shaggy not rolled not mowed long and almost unplayable.. rough totallly unmowed .. tee boxes not mowed since last week .. fairways ridiculously long ! Then to top everything off we get chewed out by the Marshall on the last hole 18 cause we are past the red arrows ! Really brah !!! No one knows where the rough or fairways begin bud ! The thing is .. this has the potential to be a extremely extrodonary track ! Great lay out dude in the clubhouse was cool .. and clubhouse was nice .. just nothing worse then playing a tough golf course 72.5/129 and just can’t cause the greens /fairways/ tee boxes won’t let you ! Oak hollow ... buy some mowers / water that black gumbo dirt ... word of the day MOW !
Ehhh
Thought course was not well maintained . Fairways not great and if your off, good luck.
Pretty open
Hard to miss a fairway. Challenging enough to make it fun to play.
Nice course
Good layout - good signage to follow. Nice course to play - highly recommend!
Texas Spring Golf
This course has some good holes. Unfortunately the tough winter has not allowed the fairways to grow out and they were pretty sporty. The greens were really good and putted nice. The staff was very friendly and the starter pair our twosome up with a couple of locals who were a delight to play with. The beverage cart girl was outstanding and the prices were reasonable.
Great People, Good Course
I've played Oak Hollow off and on for the last six years and it has improved every year. They have taken on a challenging piece of land and are building a quality course from scratch. The staff are hard-working and very professional. Texas hospitality abounds at Oak Hollow.
Good for the Average Golfer
I play this course a few times a year to enjoy a course that is not overly long. There are three challenging holes, especially the signature hole (#8) pictured on the front of the scorecard. If you are a slow-starter, you will like that the first three holes are flat and straight with little trouble. It's a great course for a young beginning golfer to learn to play, too. The greens are average fast, but as usual, you want to be below the hold when putting.
Needs some T.L.C.
The fairways were hard, not much grass. The greens were hard and slick. We only paid about $ 25.00 dollars for the round, but it needs some improvement if we consider going back again.
Good challenge
My wife and I played this course for the first time. We were looking for something different at a reasonable price. We drove from farmers branch up to McKinney and it was worth the drive. We usually like to play early but the best price was at noon. I plan on going back to this course because I enjoyed the challenges on some holes.
Not a bad course, play was very slow.
Play was slow due a lot of players. Course greens was freshly sanded and not a very good green. Course overall was a good one to play. Will try it again.
