Oak Hollow Golf Course

About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Hello
When I arrived to play I went to the range with a small bucket to loosen up first. I was interrupted by the marshal asking if I could tee off immediately it would be doing him a favor. I complied and was joined by one other. There was no one a head of us. We got half way down the 7th when someone in the group behind us grilled us for slow play. I explained that we had been out for just over and hour and therefore our pace was good. This developed into an argument and therefore I decided to leave after the turn. I asked for my green fees refunded. That never happened. This place is run by a load of fools.
Nice place to play
Solid course design ... not too hard and not too easy. The greens are quite good but a little firm. Overall a very fun place to play golf.
Interesting layout. Some challenging hikes. Greens and fairways in pretty good condition. Interesting layout and fun to play. Good value for the price.
Fun to play!
Nice course, easy to navigate. 4 teeing areas. The greens were in excellent shape. Fairways hard. We haven't had rain in months. I used my monthly discount. Cart and Green fee $19.00.
Great value!
Average Course
Pace was slow for a Sunday. Waiting between every shot. Marshall was out but don’t know if he talked to any groups. Course in decent condition. Very open and easy. Greens were replaced a year ago or so and they are still very firm. Hard to keep great approach shots from going long and stop the ball. For the price the course is okay, but there are better options
Hidden Gem
I’ve golfed at this course several times and I love it because the staff is friendly, it feels very low-key and neighborhood-like. Greens have been kept well.
I also find that it’s never too crowded and I can always find a tee time … highly recommended !
The greens are green and roll true
The greens are well maintained the course is dry and brown in a lot of areas. Was hitting off dirt a lot. Probably similar to many courses in Texas at this time of year. Practice facilities were nice and people were friendly. Would of liked it a lot more if it was a little less money to play.
Fairways need some help
You can tell they have invested time and money to update and improve the greens and T-boxes but the fairways are really dry, cracked and even cratered on some holes. Given there hasn’t been a whole lot of rain for the last few weeks but an investment of money effort and time on the fairways is much needed. Other courses in the area are dry but not in as bad of shape as the fairways at Oak Hollow.
Awesome public course
Hole 8 was worth the price of the entire round. Cool challenging tree laden course.
Family fun
Took our niece and nephew here for the first time, they enjoyed it! Had a great day!
