Mesquite Golf Course
About
Mesquite’s muni, located in the Duck Creek floodplain, was built in the 1960s by Leon Howard. Playing only 6,280 yards from the tips and void of bunkers, it makes for a fun day on the links. In fact, water comes into play only seven times–not as much as you might think for a floodplain course that has been ravaged by floods over the years.
The most challenging hole, No. 13, has water. It’s a 418-yard par 4 that doglegs right and features a tee shot over a creek, followed by a long approach to a tough, narrow green.
Other notes: Garrett Gill and George B. Williams redesigned this course.
Getting there : From I-30 east, take Northwest Hwy. for .5 mile to North Hwy. 67 and the course.

Don’t let negative review fool you!
This course is one of the great courses in DFW. I was reluctant to book my tee time at first but I did give it a try. To my surprise it is worthy to play it. Course is well maintained and price is unbelievably low.. Ball washers and coolers are available throughout the course. That is a big help with the 100 F temperature. Pace is good. I definitely to play it again soon!
Wind Is 90 Percent Air
Very enjoyable round of golf, with the exception of our cart crapping out on us at 16. Greens are in excellent condition and FAST. Fairways excellent as well. BUT, stay out of the rough, even the primary. You will not see your ball unless standing right over it. Very penalizing! There was some water around the course. Some courses are still not putting water jugs out. Go Play!!!
One of best values in North Texas golf courses
Mesquite GC is one of my "GoTo" courses for over 25 years in DFW. Since the rebuild, it has turned in to a challenging but fun course that requires driving accuracy and putting skills. The undulating greens are very well kept and fast so make sure you warm up on the practice greens first. Rangers are around to keep up the pace and remind you where you can/can't drive a cart. I don't recommend showing up without a tee time, GolfNow is the best bet for a solo round.
Overall one of the best courses for your money in North Texas.
Excellent greens
Other than a round of 4 hours 41 minutes, this is a very nice course. The greens were perfect, fast and the greens are extremely challenging.
Solid Golf
Great course, great layout, unique holes, fantastic greens! It appears the people who run and maintain the course take great pride in doing so resulting in a great experience for any golfer.
notr allowed to bring ice water on course
starter rather see me die on the course when it's 102 degrees.
Good Course, but...
Greens were great, they roll true and are very fast. Bunkers need work, some TLC and some still have water in them (like #17) and it hasn't rained much lately. Tee boxes are rock hard and I literally had trouble getting a tee far enough in on some holes. Some still have significant storm damage. Fairways are fairly hard now and a bit narrow so it's easy to hit through several fairways on the doglegs.
The course itself plays pretty short from the standard men's tees (which are the blue here--the ladies/forward tees are white, weird...), so you don't need driver much and frankly you're better off hitting shorter and straighter on most holes, since most par 4s were playing at about 350 yards.
They prohibit you bringing your own cooler and provide one (with ice--great!) but the cooler wasn't big enough to hold 2 Gatorades and 2 waters with enough ice on this 97 degree day. They also didn't let you get your cart until 15 minutes before the tee time, which is an inconvenience schlepping your bag from the parking lot.
Also the Marshall's seem to take their job as seriously as Texas Rangers in that they have a strict time limit of play (great!) are happy to tell you about it and enforce it (they lurk in certain areas) and they warned of poison oak, ivy and water moccasins...all of which added up to a bit of a weird vibe....
I'd play there again but for the $$ there's better options out there with better conditions and a more accommodating vide...
Mesquite Golf Club
Overall the course is in good shape. A couple of bunkers and tee boxes need attention, but greens are in great shape. Mesquite is a greatt course at the price point. Staff is extremely friendly. No pace of play issues, they doing a great job keeping people moving.
Back where I learned the game 30 years ago!
Mesquite Golf Course has without a doubt improved greatly over the years! The course is a bit different but in much better condition. The Bunkers needed some work but the fairways. Penalty areas, and greens were in pretty good condition. The staff was extremely friendly. Thanks Mesquite for the privilege of reliving some fond memories!
US Open Rough!
First this is a great place to play and highly recommend…I just think they forgot to cut the grass last week! The rough was insane!
Fun sunday
Booked as a single and ended up in a great random group with other golf now app users. Course did a good job of keeping groups moving. On a busy Sunday we played in 4 hours, 10 minutes. I thought the greens were in tremendous shape. Overall the course was well maintained, a couple tee boxes were pretty beat up but overall it was excellent value. Will be back out here soon for sure!
