Mesquite Golf Course
About
Mesquite’s muni, located in the Duck Creek floodplain, was built in the 1960s by Leon Howard. Playing only 6,280 yards from the tips and void of bunkers, it makes for a fun day on the links. In fact, water comes into play only seven times–not as much as you might think for a floodplain course that has been ravaged by floods over the years.
The most challenging hole, No. 13, has water. It’s a 418-yard par 4 that doglegs right and features a tee shot over a creek, followed by a long approach to a tough, narrow green.
Other notes: Garrett Gill and George B. Williams redesigned this course.
Getting there : From I-30 east, take Northwest Hwy. for .5 mile to North Hwy. 67 and the course.

Why I make time to play a few times a year
The greens. Fun and pure. It was cold and wet, which leaves mud in the fairways so the round was difficult. However, mid winter greens are fast and true. Great muni.
RCL Ft Worth
Good pace of play and really quick greens! Staff was cordial and helpful. I would go back! Nice track and layout.
Good course good staff
Enjoyed the round and would play again! Greens were good but fast! Helpful staff
Is Mesquite Golf Club good?
I like it because it is straight , simple and easy to play but there are just few trees .
Will play again
First time playing this course, friendly staff nice lay out and course was in pretty good shape. Absolutely love that they have marshals watching pace of play. Makes a huge difference keep it up
The fastest greens you ever played.
My first time at Mesquite. I read the reviews before going and was prepared for fast greens but these were unbelievable. I am extremely diligent about scoring my shots- all of them, but when the greens were this incredibly fast, if I got within 2-3 feet I was done. The 3 footers would roll right by! I couldn't hit it any softer in some cases and when EVERY ball rolled 4 feet past the hole I quickly realized they were unfair and just took my score whatever it was if I got within 3 feet. The pin placement on most of the greens was on a mound or incline as well, making your green reading skills important. The 2 guys I played with said they have never seen pins placed as difficult as they were today. The fairways were fairly soft but had some wet patches and ground under repair areas so staying out of those areas was important. I expected more ball roll near the greens but didn't get it in most cases, the ball would stop short and not roll up to the green. The one bunker I had to hit out of was as fluffy and soft as you would want, I am used to seeing gravel and hard pack but this one was nice, I actually made a decent shot on the greenside bunker. The cart paths are smooth and the tee boxes are well marked. There was no beverage cart service and they don't allow food & drink to be brought onto the course so we rented the cooler at the 19th hole and bought their drinks and re-filled with water on the course. All in all I would play again now knowing what to expect on those slick greens.
Greens are in good shape and fast. Not a long course but def challenging.
Great Shape
Course was in great shape. The greens were smooth and fast, and the fairways were in excellent shape as well.
