Mesquite Golf Course
About
Mesquite’s muni, located in the Duck Creek floodplain, was built in the 1960s by Leon Howard. Playing only 6,280 yards from the tips and void of bunkers, it makes for a fun day on the links. In fact, water comes into play only seven times–not as much as you might think for a floodplain course that has been ravaged by floods over the years.
The most challenging hole, No. 13, has water. It’s a 418-yard par 4 that doglegs right and features a tee shot over a creek, followed by a long approach to a tough, narrow green.
Other notes: Garrett Gill and George B. Williams redesigned this course.
Getting there : From I-30 east, take Northwest Hwy. for .5 mile to North Hwy. 67 and the course.

Maybe it will get better
Perhaps later in the season the grass will appear ? There was just too much mud and dirt on this day - but maybe that is Texas Spring golf.?
Always Great
Course was in excellent condition for this time of year and especially after the large amount of rain that we've been having lately and the inordinate amount of cold weather as well. It was a beautiful day to play golf and a great course to enjoy it on.
Always Enjoy Mesquite
For the amount of rain this winter, the course is in great condition. Easy to see they are taking care of the course and greens.
Weird
Pro said couldn’t tee off early because they get no money from GolfNow unless tee off at booked time. There was nobody on #1 tee for at least 30 minutes before tee time. Seems like there are issues with Mesquite city IT dept and golf course.
Fun Putting
Tees and fairways were tight and wet but the fun started once you got to the greens They were fast but true and, with plenty of undulations, a challenging but fair putting surface. I will continue playing there as long a the greens are like this.
Great Value
Greens were in very good shape and on the fast side. Other than being wet due to weather a day and a half before the round the tee boxes and fairways were in good shape also. I will take good greens every day of the week and for $14!
Muddy swamp. Greens were intact though.
It was my first time here. For a muni course, it was in decent shape for a winter setup. However, it seems like the course doesn't drain very well because it was a muddy swamp. Carts only on path and it doesn't look like that will change for a number of days, possibly weeks. The greens though were surprisingly fast and more challenging than most courses I've played so far. I'd say wait until the course fully drains or the spring. I'd come back again for $30/round.
Very nice and fast green.
First time played here. Very impressed. Will be back again next week.
Great value
Great value, The greens are very fast but very fair. It is very obvious that the city has taken their Golf Course very seriously. The improvement over the years have been phenomenal. If you have not played the Mesquite golf course in the last 8 months you must give it another look. The greens are awesome and the experience is excellent.
Fun course to play
The course is in excellent condition. Plenty of sets of tees to suit your game. Friendly staff. Great pace of play. The marshalls keep the pace of play under 4 hours on the weekend!
Fun layout with great greens
I heard great things about the greens so I wanted to play it. Greens were smooth and fast. Some had a lot of contour and slope. If you were above the hole it was tough to stop the ball. That's a good test of golf.
Layout was fun too.
One of the better public courses I have played in DFW area.
Pleasant Surprise
First time to play here and was pleasantly surprised. Good value for the money. Course was in excellent condition for a municipal facility. Layout is generally wide open, but a few holes require well-placed tee shots.
Beware of tee times. Although we had #1 tee time on the official tee sheet, pro shop allowed several groups of "Saturday morning regulars" to go out ahead of us. That turned out not to be a big deal, because they played very fast and never held us up at all. Still, it was a little disconcerting to learn that #1 was really not #1.
Very nice course!
First time playing this course. The course was in great shape, the fairways and the greens. We really enjoyed it and will most likely play there again.
Humid
Course was in really good shape. The greens were extremely fast with a lot of break. I don't think I have ever played there when the greens were so difficult but that is OK
Mesquite
Not a very difficult layout. The challenge to the course is the Speedy, undulating greens. Really the only defense. Overall, a very nice layout and challenge.
