Mesquite Golf Course
About
Mesquite’s muni, located in the Duck Creek floodplain, was built in the 1960s by Leon Howard. Playing only 6,280 yards from the tips and void of bunkers, it makes for a fun day on the links. In fact, water comes into play only seven times–not as much as you might think for a floodplain course that has been ravaged by floods over the years.
The most challenging hole, No. 13, has water. It’s a 418-yard par 4 that doglegs right and features a tee shot over a creek, followed by a long approach to a tough, narrow green.
Other notes: Garrett Gill and George B. Williams redesigned this course.
Getting there : From I-30 east, take Northwest Hwy. for .5 mile to North Hwy. 67 and the course.

Good course
Tee to green it’s in good condition. Great layout is difficult and makes you think about club choice. Greens were true rolling, but you better leave yourself an uphill putt. If you end up putting downhill out here, good luck stopping your ball by the cup. Bunkers need some love, but overall good course, would recommend trying it out.
Mesquite
The greens are amazing as always. The course was in great shape too. Ronnie and his staff are top notch!!
Hot Friday afternoon golf
Fairly well-maintained city municipal course. Greens and fairways in good shape. Our group’s first time to play the course so any type of gps or course direction on the scorecard would have been very helpful. Minimal amenities and no on-course drink/food carts. Nice course and will try again now that I will have some recollection of correct club choice on more critical shots.
Great Value!
First time playing the full 18. I had played the front 9 back in 2015. Course was in great condition, which is no surprise given all the rain DFW has been getting. The Bermuda greens rolled great and had very few unrepaired pitch marks. Fairways were lush. I didn’t find any bunkers so I can’t commented on the conditions. ;). Will play again soon!
Marshalls were brutal
Played on a Saturday morning and the course was in pretty good condition. We teed off 5 minutes before our tee time, and the group in front of us was clearing the 1st green as we teed off. We were then heckled by the marshalls (there must have been at least five marshalls - we saw them every other hole - and zero food/beverage carts) the ENTIRE round about how we needed to speed up the pace of play because there was one hole between us and the next group. Not ONCE did the group behind us wait to hit a single shot (they were a full hole behind us the entire round), and our foursome finished the course in exactly 4 hours on a Saturday morning, including a stop for a hot dog at the turn. I am totally in favor of maintaining the pace of play, but it was very frustrating to get constantly berated by the marshalls when we were keeping the pace all day.
This is a muni course, so conditions were fairly average with respect to the fairways/rough/tee boxes. The greens were in excellent shape though, rolling fairly fast and true. The guy at the check-in desk was very friendly and welcoming.
Great shape!
Course in great shape! Greens firm, fast and true!
Rain
Had to quit after 6 holes due to rain
If booked trough course I would get a rain check
With golf now you don’t
Wish I had known this
Great course
Course is in great shape. Challenging greens. Bunkers could be better but an unusual amount of rain hasn't helped.
Nice Muni
Course is a fun layout with doglegs and water features. Some drainage issues that need to be addressed but there has been lots of rain lately. Sand traps not raked for a few days at least and need to be repaired after spring rains. Greens rolled well but area right around the cup on many holes had the "anthill" effect (common on public courses) due to newly made holes not being rolled after inserting the cup. Please roll the cup areas, putting is hard enough without having to putt into a 3 inch radius.
Nice course, decent greens
They do fully book up the course. It’s hard to keep pace if your booked with a slower group. The pro shop guys will get on you if your a few minutes behind. The Marshall’s were very nice and helpful.
Good value with golf now
It was well worth to use golf now best deal to play on any course. Mesquite is nice and challanging and nice lay out.
Maybe it will get better
Perhaps later in the season the grass will appear ? There was just too much mud and dirt on this day - but maybe that is Texas Spring golf.?
Always Great
Course was in excellent condition for this time of year and especially after the large amount of rain that we've been having lately and the inordinate amount of cold weather as well. It was a beautiful day to play golf and a great course to enjoy it on.
