Mesquite Golf Course
About
Mesquite’s muni, located in the Duck Creek floodplain, was built in the 1960s by Leon Howard. Playing only 6,280 yards from the tips and void of bunkers, it makes for a fun day on the links. In fact, water comes into play only seven times–not as much as you might think for a floodplain course that has been ravaged by floods over the years.
The most challenging hole, No. 13, has water. It’s a 418-yard par 4 that doglegs right and features a tee shot over a creek, followed by a long approach to a tough, narrow green.
Other notes: Garrett Gill and George B. Williams redesigned this course.
Getting there : From I-30 east, take Northwest Hwy. for .5 mile to North Hwy. 67 and the course.

Ok, Muny
It is a city public course, so I guess you can’t expect much. Staff seems to be friendly, but hardly anything available to buy in pro shop. It is winter time even in Texas. The greens seem to roll ok, of course, the fairways and tee boxes are dominant. I had a funny experience. I had a 11:40 tee time with three other people I didn’t know. At 11:32, two of the three come strolling in the pro shop. So the guy behind counter told us to go hit. I was glad I was going to ride by myself as I knew I was going to have to leave early. Had asked to get my own cart, but the staff in pro shop told me I would have to pay for a full cart. So I go hit me tee ball, shortly the other two showed up. As the second person was hitting, the starter hollered at me to come back. The fourth had showed up. When we were in the second fairway, a twosome came up behind us and wanted to play through. There was no room so we said no. Ironically, the twosome I played with wanted to play as a twosome, pro shop said no. Then I had another thought, why the starters didn’t take our fourth and make the twosome behind us a threesome. But that would have meant the course would have had us use an extra cart.
Home course proud
I live in Mesquite so this is my home course. It fits all amateur skill levels. Nice layout, friendly staff, greens in great shape, challenging pin placements. I highly recommend.
Mesquite
For the price, the course was an excellent selection.
Very nice course
This is my home course. Fairways and greens in great shape. Friendly staff with nice clubhouse amenities. A solid 4 stars.
My home course
I live in Mesquite. The course has been renovated and is well worth playing. The greens are in great shape and the pin placement can make the greens challenging. Nice layout and a fun course to play for all skill levels. So go play my home course. You will be glad you did.
Fantastic fast greens
Course is in great condition for this time of year. The greens were fast and true. Fairways were in good shape and only hardpan in a few areas, especially off the edges of the fairways. There are 5 sets of Tees so difficulty level varies to your skill. I recommend this course because if you are playing well, this course will reward your scorecard.
Return Visitor
Enjoy the course. Greens are very challenging and you have to know where to leave the ball. 3 put always in play on these very fast
Great Value
Played the Friday after Thanksgiving and the course was packed but the Marshall's did a great job of getting everyone around the course. Greens are perfect condition and extremely fast. Another good experience at this golf course.
Good Value
First time played - Played as single with a pair of other golfers - enjoyed the round - good pace - fairly challenging - wonderful weather - I will come back
Great Shape
Course was in great shape especially for mid November.
Enjoyed round
I haven't played this course for about 1 year. I was amazed at how well the greens looked and played. Very true and very smooth
Well maintained course.
First time playing here and enjoyed it very much. Course is manicured and kept very nice. Would recommend to any level golfer.
Hold Onto Your Bonnett Momma
30 mph winds made this go day extremely difficult. Many of the golfers I encountered just quit keeping score. On almost every tee, my ball would oscillate before being hit. And on the greens, this was the first time in a long while that putts were definitely affected by the wind. The greens were lightning fast and hard
anyway. There were a lot of tight lies in the fairways that made iron play a bit more difficult, especially for us duffers. Usually, the marshalls, if you see one here, are very friendly and professional. I had an encounter with on that was not so professional. I had violated a rule and entered a roped off area in search of my ball. A marshall, after I had made my shot, rolled up to me and made a sarcastic remark about my violation. A simple "please don't do that again," would have worked much better. This kind of behavior is an exception and not the rule at Mesquite. Especially when its not windy, this course is fun to play.
Decent course
First time playing this course as a golfer from Kansas city Missouri. Rough was thin dry grass but was tall which made it thick if that makes sense. I assume this is a Dallas thing it reminded me of every homes yard versus all maintained golf grass. Fairways were dry as well. Choose design was nice. Couple challenging holes. Played this course on a hot deal with coupons so can't complain too much when you pay 1.50 for 18 holes. Would pay again but probably only with a hot deal.
Back home
Back to playing my hometown course. I had not played the course in over a year because I mainly play GolfNow hot deals. This course is now offer hot deals. The course is in great shape. Challenging. Greens are fantastic. Definitely it’s a course I recommend.
Hometown course-a big thumbs up
The course is in great shape. I live in Mesquite and have not played the course in a while because it was not part of the GolfNow hot deals. It is now. The course is well kept. Challenging with a good layout. Bunkers and creeks to challenge any golfer. Thumbs up!
Another Great Experience
Took some guys out that had never played the course and they loved it. Greens were not as good as my previous visit but were still good.
Awesome
I'll be coming back.
The course was in good condition and the pace of play was excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Course Marshall's kept everyone moving around the course.
The "Hot Deal" at $21 including cart for a 11:30 time on Sunday morning was a great.
This course is definitely in our rotation now.
