Eighteen Hole at Shary Municipal Golf Course

About
Originally a short, 9-hole course with open fairways and slow, average-sized greens, Shary has opened a new 18-hole course in recent years.
The big course is challenging because the fairways are narrow and lined by out-of-bounds. Water hazards impact several holes as well. Play it safe off the tee with a 3-wood or long iron to avoid big numbers.
The signature hole for the small course is No. 4, a 355-yard par 4 that features an approach shot over water to the green.
Getting there : From 83 west, exit Brian Rd. and drive north. When you come to FM 495, turn left and drive to Mayberry, then turn left again. The course is on the right side.

The course itself is very nice and really enjoyed playing there, especially once you get to the 5th hole. Having said that the rate of play was horrible. Had a group of 4 playing ahead of me and they were sharing two sets of clubs and would drive on the greens. Got tired of sitting in the cart for 15 minutes before I could tee off so I left. I could understand if it was a busy day, but it really wasn’t.

Same old dumpy course
See my previous reviews. Not much has changed. The course still suffers from a huge lack of cart traffic control. You can easily pick up in the lack of good management. There are a lot of dried up areas, due to lacking/faulty irrigation systems (not drought driven). Trouble areas keep getting bigger, instead of getting cordoned off to avoid cart traffic through them. You can't hit a good long shot on the fairway on many holes, because you'll end up on huge dried up, bald areas for your approach shots.
Ridiculous! Hey, here's an idea - hire someone who cares and has professional training in Golf Course Management!

Same Old Junk
Things have changed very little since my last review.
The course still looks pretty bad with dry hard packed fareways. There's also a plethora of drying and dead grass areas from excessive golf cart traffic. There no such thing as a 90 degree rule here, apparently. Hitting from most areas on the faraways reminds me of hitting from concrete. Your clubs bounce from almost every area.
A few yard markers have been added but much is still lacking. Ball cleaning stations are there but most don't work, and honestly, should be removed. Better management is absolutely needed here. Tee box hitting areas are hardly ever shifted around, so you often hit from a very uneven footing surface. Play at Los Lagos or Monte Cristo and you'll see the difference. Shame, this could be a good one with better management.

Great Course But Some Issues
This course has some of the best fairways I’ve seen in the valley. The holes are all fun, challenging, and well maintained. There are two issues I would like to point out. First, the amount of people starting in the morning was excessive. We had to wait for several golfers to begin and there were 15 golfers behind us (literally). It seems they overbooked, which slowed our play and made us feel rushed. Second, the 9th hole does not finish by the pro shop and is actually pretty far. Every course I’ve played on had the 9th hole by the pro shop. We were doing 18 holes so it’s not that big of an issue, but sometimes it’s nice to be able to stop to grab something from the car or get a drink/snack from the pro shop. We actually forgot our water in the truck so this was unfortunate for us. Overall a great course that I would go to again.

Course
The fairways are in good condition. Being mowed at the time. The grass is starting to grow on the greens. Ball rolls better. Had a 6 person team in front to slow our pace of play
