About
Originally a short, 9-hole course with open fairways and slow, average-sized greens, Shary has opened a new 18-hole course in recent years.
The big course is challenging because the fairways are narrow and lined by out-of-bounds. Water hazards impact several holes as well. Play it safe off the tee with a 3-wood or long iron to avoid big numbers.
The signature hole for the small course is No. 4, a 355-yard par 4 that features an approach shot over water to the green.
Getting there : From 83 west, exit Brian Rd. and drive north. When you come to FM 495, turn left and drive to Mayberry, then turn left again. The course is on the right side.

Average, not great, but not bad

Looks can be deceiving
So here in the RGV courses can be a goat ranch to really decent runs. So when I first pulled into the course I thought it was going to be a bad day. The course looked like it could use some attention. But it turned into a fun and pleasant track. Course is challenging and luckily that day I could hit the shots that I wanted. The only issue was the pace of play. We had some winter Texans and it just seemed to take forever. But once I played through it was good until I hit the next set and that’s where it grind to a snails pace.

Much better than last time, there was no tournament but still 6 people playing together, its to bad the players dont respect the course, they ride up to the green, across but i guess it is accepted here. Nice layout, we will be back

Time to play
It took our foursome over 6 hours to play 18 holes, they had 6 players on 3 carts per hole in a fiendly tournament just before us, they had players driving up to the greens, it was not nice to see. People complain on course conditions, it starts by tge players ! No starter, no marshal, no staff on the course!
But we will be back and play it again !

Course condition
Really enjoyed our round. Fairways a little weak on grass. Greens were great. Fun course and a little challenging. Starter was very pleasant and did great job.

Nice little course
I have played this course a lot over the years. For the price, you get a pretty good value. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are some issues when playing this course, and, hopefully, pointing them out here will help fixing them. The biggest complaint from me are the green-side bunkers. Most of them are overgrown with grass. Recently, however, they started fixing a few of them, but they got a long way to go to make them right. Another big let down, is the lack of maintenance on the tee boxes and ball cleaning stations. Why have ball cleaning stations if they are dry or broken? My last problem with this course is the lack of enough distance markers. This is a huge problem, especially, on the last 9 holes where there are hardly any of them. So grip it and rip it and come prepared.

Could be a good course
Fairways in poor shape, Greens on the slow side and not in the best of shape, lots of hard pan shots. This is really too bad the course culd be fun if it were properly maintained. Staff friendly and courteous.

Pro shop did not have any record of prepaid reservation from Golf Now....Did not want to accept my word and copy of my confirmation unless I could prove that green fees were paid...After several minutes of deliberation and my expressed frustration, pro shop decided to let us play ......

Poor Fairways and poor management
Poorly kept fairways, sometimes you play from a hard dirt ground, pace of play is extremely slow and no marshal. Tee time was not respected due to a last minute tournament, never heard that before. Had to play 19-27 twice to play 18 holes. No sorry, no discount or a sign of care.
