Eighteen Hole at Shary Municipal Golf Course

About
Originally a short, 9-hole course with open fairways and slow, average-sized greens, Shary has opened a new 18-hole course in recent years.
The big course is challenging because the fairways are narrow and lined by out-of-bounds. Water hazards impact several holes as well. Play it safe off the tee with a 3-wood or long iron to avoid big numbers.
The signature hole for the small course is No. 4, a 355-yard par 4 that features an approach shot over water to the green.
Getting there : From 83 west, exit Brian Rd. and drive north. When you come to FM 495, turn left and drive to Mayberry, then turn left again. The course is on the right side.

Fun Muni
Like the previous reviewer stated, Mission invested a lot of money in improving Shary Golf Course, and the course if finally starting to show it. It helps that the new head pro is committed to keeping it in nice shape.
I always enjoy coming out here and playing. It's a short course - which makes attatcking easy -, but still provides plenty of challenge. The greens aren't always in the greatest condition, but they've rolled nice and consistently in recent months.
We really appreciate your comments on the conditions of the course! It's nice to see the hard work and dedication is paying off in our customers' eyes. You're always welcome here, so feel free to come by whenever!
Could be very nice, but...
This is a nice layout, but doesn't live up to its potential because of the usual condition of the course. About three years ago, the City of Mission put millions of dollars of grant money into this course for a lot of work including a new, state-of-the-art sprinkler system. Everyone figured that by now this would have made the course a showplace with lush greens and fairways. Wrong. But, at least, the restrooms and club house are nicer. The city needs to hire someone who really knows something about golf course management and grounds keeping. This could be a wonderful place to play but consistently falls short despite a substantial recent investment.
