About
Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.
The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.
Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

El Dorado
This is a fun layout. Really enjoyable and fairly challenging track. They have gold tees, just forward of the white, so mid-handicap players can actually do a “combo,” which makes it approx. 6K yards. The fairways are in good shape: a 4/5. The greens were a little on the slow side, but fair. There were patchy areas on several of the greens. Not a huge problem, but something that needs addressing. Say 4/5 for now, but close to being 3.5.
People in charge are friendly. One thing everyone needs to know is that the Pro Shop is being renovated or remodeled. So you check into a temporary plastic shack next to the parking area used for carts. Carts have GPS which is always a plus.
Decent place to play
Wouldnt recommend spending more than 40 for this course. Grass is dried up in places.
Great place in very good shape
Challenging 18 holes with a really good maintenance. Grrens are good and fast , people very friendly . Just there isn’t a price for a refill to play the other course .

Just hard enough that you should pay close attention to your gps numbers…
Enjoyable round
Course was in excellent condition and didn’t encounter any problems except for some tee boxes that are very hard to put a tee in.
