About
Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.
The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.
Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

Experience
Plenty of shade and in great shape after experiencing a recent hurricane.
Weird layout and insufficient staff and no golf cart in hot summer day!
The course is in with a residential community with houses , cars, people and roads mixed with holes, hard to navigate. No one at proshop and only one person at the course. As a result, he refused to provide golf cart that was included in the fee. I had to carry my bag and walked in the extremely hot Houston summer weather with thunder and lighting in and out. As a result I could only do 9 holes but I paid for 18 holes. Terrible experience!
Top 5 conditions in Houston
So this course is probably top 5 courses in Houston. Played on a Monday as a single and had the course to myself. Green’s were near perfect. Course is through a residential neighborhood so slicers beware. Fairways were in perfect condition.

The course was in good condition, fair and challenging layout 👍
Outstanding course
Greens had been punched within the month but played smoothly. However, at 95 degrees and minimal wind, no cart girl was seen. I left due to heat exhaustion before the back nine. If it’s as nice as the front, this complex (with LaQuinta as the other course) is one of the best in Houston.
Excellent condition
The course maintained super good. Though it was hot day, the course was back up a little.
Worth the trip
First time playing this course. Proshop assistant was helpful in pointing me in the right direction for the course I was playing. Tee boxes in great shape and very even. Fairways were a little narrow but not as narrow as some courses that have houses on them. Fairways were also in good shape. Greens were rolling true and just a little slow due to heavy rain 2 days ago. It was cart path only (feel like tomorrow it may not be as it has nice drainage). Water cooler only on hole 10, did see beverage cart few times though.
Course is challenging for we amateurs

Tell it was going to be a fun golf round. I didn’t play my best but I eagled the last hole. Overall it was a challenging course and the greens were in great shape.

The course was closed due to weather. Will I get a refund or credit.
