El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course
About
Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.
The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.
Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

Very nice course
Great course, very well kept, friendly staff, nice area.
Nice Course, Still some minor repairs on course and practice greens
Played El Dorado Course, It was fairly challenging. Quite a bit of water and some carry off the tee boxes. Played the tips at over 6900 yds.
Most par 3's were around 200 yds. Some of the greens needed some work. But overall fairly quick greens. The course was in pretty good shape.
The practice green near the driving range needs lots of work.
I played on a Tuesday at 11am. Finished 18 in a foursome alittle before or at 4 hours. We played on three different tee boxes and never had to wait on the group infront of us and the group behind us we barely saw. They never had to wait either.
Would play again. I also got my round on the Hot Deal. Good price.
La Quinta was about $10 less on Hot Deal.
GREAT value
First and foremost the quality for the value is top notch in my opinion. The course was in really great shape with the exception of a couple of greens and the practice putting green (needs a LOT of help). I'm about a 12 handicapper and played one up from the back and it was very challenging with some tricky teeshots and approaches; not necessary to use driver off most tee boxes but straight tee shots are a must. Will be back next time I'm in town.
Friday afternoon at 5:00pm
Ranger let a five some of walkers lock up the entire course. Didn’t see a beer cart person the entire 18 holes. Actually skipped holes due to not being able to finish waiting on the walkers.
Interesting course to play
One would never be disappointed playing this course
Nice course
El dorado is nice. Fairways, tee boxes, bunkers all great. The greens aren’t perfect but being the season we are in I completely understand. We got stuck behind a group playing really slow and the Marshall came at hole 10 and made them let us play through. That was greatly appreciated.
Very challenging course
It was very challenging as expected. But disappointed with the conditions. Greens need attention. First time on the course, experienced tight fairways and plenty of water. Layout was interesting and entertaining. May play again.
Great course to play
Golfnow has made it possible for me to continue to play on this very nice course
El Dorado much better shape than La Quinta
El Dorado greens were in much better shape than the La Quinta greens.
Good value and the starters were very friendly and accommodating with us !

Enjoyed my round
It is always a great experience playing the El Dorado course
This course will test your shot making
Like the course, it's fun and a challenge from the blue tees. Greens are in good shape and roll well.
Slow pace of play - too many locals in 5 player groups on the course playing very slowly.
