El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course
About
Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.
The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.
Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

So much potential, but so much disapointment
I have played these courses multiple times and at booking I read all the rave reviews of the El Dorado course. I was woefully disappointed with what transpired on Saturday.
The 3 groups that were in front of us consisted of a 4-some, followed by a 2-some, then followed by a 5-some. We teed off at approximately 11 AM and did not complete our round until 4:30PM. The pace of play was atrocious and the greens had been aerified i would say between 1 and 2 weeks prior. The was no alert when booking the tee time and the price was full. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Quail Valley
Great condition
There is lots of grass on the fairways unlike some of the other courses we have been playing lately. Greens are running nice also.
Excellent and thank you for playing here again. See you next time.
Awesome. Tough. Great shape. Good greens. Ball sits up in fairways.
Many thanks. See you again soon hopefully.
Solid. Thank you.
Better then most
Course in very good condition. Greens, fairways sand very good shape.
Thank you. Hope to have you back more often.
Great Track..
This is one of finest courses in the greater Houston area. This course is laid out for a different challenge according to the wind direction.
Many thanks. The wind can be a beast at times.
Mid Week
Got put behind 2 groups of 6 and 1 group of 5. After 8 we had enough and passed all 3 groups and went to 11. After playing 11 twice then 12 twice to make up lost holes one old guy had the nerve to yell at us from 200 yards out that we were too slow. They would be lucky to get it to the green with 3 more shots. After that we were long gone, nobody between us and 18 so last 6 holes were very enjoyable.
Thank you for making the most of a nice day out here at Quail Valley. Hope to have you back again.
Thank you for making the most of your play here at Quail Valley. Hope too have you back again.
Tough Day
Didn't play well but the greens are in good shape on Eldorado. Can't wait to get another shot at it.
No rush to finish
Nice course. Challenges from the blue tees. The fivesome ahead of us was dreadfully slow. Thankfully it was a beautiful day for golf.
Our apologies that the speed of play wasn't what you were hoping for a beautiful. Hope we can improve on that 3-star rating next time.
Good course
Good course and in good condition for early spring.
Solid! Thank you.
Great layout
Love the course
Gets me in trouble on the last five
Have to learn to play them better
Challenging
Thank you... and you should get out more than once a month! If you do, hope to have you back here.
Disappointing
I got there early to find that a big group plays everyday starting at 1130. Since eight groups of four or five golfers playing for money ahead of me meant slow pace and maybe not finishing before dark. The starter offered the other course which I played. Unfortunately it was very muddy, cart path only. At least the marshal was friendly.
El Dorado is a popular course and as much as we all might want it to ourselves, it is often pretty busy. Hope you make it back to play El Dorado.
Thank you for playing at Quail Valley again. Hope you make it back sooner than later.
Beautiful course!
Great condition fairways and greens compare to other courses this time of year. Overall great except greens on 17 is really bad.
Thank you. Hopefully we'll earn that 5th star when we deal with the trees that are having a negative impact on the 17th green.
Sunday Afternoon @ the Eldorado
Course was crowded but the pace of play moved pretty good thanks to the Marshalls. We were able to get off the paths, which has not happened in a while. Fairways were in pretty good shape, the bunkers were playable and the greens were ok, just a little bumpy. A pretty challenging course to say the least, it had been a while but will be worth another trip to play. I would recommend this course.
We appreciate the compliments as well as your patience on busy days. Thank you for coming down from Magnolia and hope you make it back again soon.
Thank you for having played here multiple times and we apologize your latest visit wasn't enjoyed as much as your previous visits. Hope you make it back for another loop and please be sure to visit with our head pro or general manager to discuss your Saturday here.
