About

Golfer Reviews
Nice challenge
First time playing and found the course to have a nice layout with a good variety of shot experiences. The course has both trees and water so errant shots will be penalizing. Greens were sandy and being aerated at the time we played, so that was a disappointment. I look forward to playing it again under better circumstances.
challenging but fair
Course was in very good condition. Layout has a variety of challenges, but fair for all skill levels. Excellent cart condition, well marshalled, very good pace. Excellent clubhouse service and food. Friendly staff. I look forward to returning.
We look forward to having you back as a regular hopefully. Thank you!
July 7
Pace of play was good for a Saturday. Just over 4 hours. Course was very wet after 2 days of rain but played well except greens that were recently aerated. Weren’t too bad though. A good day.
Thank you for coming back to play Quail Valley and appreciate the understanding with our efforts to keep the greens in good shape. The recent rains have helped to speed the refresh!
The greens were in horrible condition and not noted on Golfnow. Was not worth the 45 dollars.
Apologies for your first experience being here was on recently aerated greens. That was an operational hiccup and not our intention. Hope you make it back to Quail Valley and we'll make it up to you.
A good Saturday
Course is in very good conditions. Fairways a bit dry but greens have filled out nicely last couple weeks. Pace was a bit slow due to one group. Not sure why Marshall didn’t move them along. Other than that a good day
Rains yesterday and today should help with some of that dryness. Glad you enjoyed your day out here and hope you make it back. Thank you!
Saturday morning golf
Long par 4sfrom the tips and blue tees for guys over 65 but course is in good shape. Enjoyed our round. Good course
Thank you... and if you think La Quinta was long, wait until you play El Dorado. Hope to have you back for another loop.
Great conditions
Course conditions were GREAT! Greens good, fairways clean and green! Landscaping was top notch! Pace of play was awesome, moved through 2 groups and Marshall was on point, Thanks Craig!
We will be back.......
Craig and all of us thank you!
Weekend & Holiday Fivesomes ??
I like this course, but I won't be going back on the weekend or holiday. Policy is to allow 5-somes. I've played golf all my life, and accept weekend and holiday play will be slower. That being said, compounding slow play with 5-somes is something I personally will avoid.
Too many other good course in this area in the same price range that don't allow 5-somes.
Thank you for your feedback. Our player assistants hustle to do our best to keep play moving. Hope you make it back anytime.
Bring out the Big Stick
The fairways here are nice and wide in comparison to Heron Lakes (Should be named Duck Lakes) for example, and filled well with Bermuda grass. This day they needed mowing however. There was some St. Augustine grass that was being treated (killed) by chemical that is encroaching into Bermuda areas. So, I moved my ball once to get around it. The greens and bunkers were good too, but not fancy country club good. The layout of the course was pretty fun and I had a nice round. I shall return.
Thank you Superdave. We look forward to having you back.
Sunday May 20
Usually great pace Sunday mornings but this Sunday there was 3 groups having their own “mini tournament” that held the entire course up. Marshall did his best to move them but they continued to stall. After the 6th hole we bypassed all 3 groups. Easily 4 wide open holes ahead of them. Played last 9 with no delays and last 3 holes twice and never saw those groups.
Thank you for your patience and understanding that our player assistance can only do so much. WE do our best to help everyone enjoy their day out, and it seems like you managed to have a good one. Thanks again!
nice course
like this course, it is well maintained. close to home.
Thank you Brian.
Pleasantly surprised
Having never played this course before and teeing up behind a tournament, we did not have high expectations, but after birdying the 1st things were looking up. The course was in really good shape, although we were not informed that the greens had been recently plugged and sanded. If there was one negative, it definitely seemed as though the yardage. markers were off a bit. The staff was pleasant when needed and overall I would say we had a good experience. Would certainly come back.
Glad you had fun here! And apologies that you were notified about the recent aeration of the greens. We'll recheck our yardages and look forward to having you back again. Thank you for the constructive feedback.
Great old layout.
Great course, great staff. Course was in good condition. Greens were great. All around great day.
Thank you very much, and coming over from Manvel. See you next time!
Meh
Took my son to play office staff was great. Greens were wrecked but most importantly a fivesome with four carts in front of me slow play and we chose to quit after 12 holes.
Both courses can sell out and get busy on weekends. We apologize you decided to turn it in for the day. We do hope you make it back, and please don't hesitate to bring up your concerns with staff. Thank you.
Pace
Being a single player the starter placed me with two guys who were walking the course, it was a busy day with full foursomes in front and behind. The marshall’s did an excellent job of moving everyone through the course, they we’re visible, and courteous. Our group was not rushed and the pace of play was comfortable,
Pace and patience is a virtue in life and especially in golf. Thank you for coming out and we're thrilled you appreciated the effort of the player assistants.
La Quinta
Enjoyed the round but don’t like being around houses the entire time
Back in the 70s when we hosted the Houston Open there weren't many houses. Still a fun course though. Hope you enjoyed your day and make it back to play El Dorado, which was recently renovated.
Friday Round @ Quail Valley
Always enjoy playing at either of the Quail Valley courses. Crew here does a good job of maintaining the course. Better than average fairways and fast greens.
Many thanks. We all appreciate the compliments. Hope to have you back more often.
Nice Older Course
Very nice older course. Enjoyed the Layout and pace of play. Will definitely play again.
Thank you very much. La Quinta is definitely a unique layout. Give El Dorado a try if you visit us from Galveston again.
Thank you for coming out to play Quail Valley. We appreciate the positive review and your understanding with our efforts to keep the greens in good shape. You should have been notified in advance. If not, please let us know in person and we'll make it up to you on your next visit.
