About

Golfer Reviews
Course needs TLC
first time to play here. Played LaQuinta course. Hot and buggy, no fault of the course. Greens pretty good,, fairways fair in the short grass, bunkers mostly unplayable from rain. not sure I'll hurry back.
Yes! a pretty NICE course
i have played this course a time or two in a tournament setting before, but the price was great for a twilight round and the weather cooperated (MOSTLY). Weather was warm and humid and bugs were out in force -- after the recent flooding rains the deal was Cart Path Only, with good reason. While slowing the pace of play a little, we still completed the round in 4.33 hours. challenges abounded through the round and the only real hangup was the 18th hole was shortened to a Par 3 as a result of Flood Waters still being across half the fairway.
I'd GLADLY play here again... SOON!
4 hours 20 minutes is solid. Thank you for coming out and hope you had some extra fun here.
Bring lots of off spray and a mesquito net hat!
Beautiful course with lots of old trees which means lots of bugs. The mosquitoes were unbearable and bats even worse. I spent just as much time waving off the bugs as I did playing golf. I couldn't take it anymore after 9 holes. Wasn't this way the first time I played here however, I played the el dorado course last time not La Quinta course! Id give el dorado another chance but I'll never play la Quinta again during the summer
It would have likely been the same on the other course. Even the side effects of the rain this year (skeeters) is challenge we all, guests and staff, battle for a couple weeks in the spring and early summer. You should give La Quinta another shot. We'll rain-check ya if the skeeters heckle you. A couple of tips: light clothes, unscented deodorant and use deet and/or vanilla.
Rough around the edges
Nice layout. Some challenges with water and bunkers in play. Some of the greens were a little rough. Lots of water this year so it's tough on the course. All in all for the price I paid it was a nice place to go.
Appreciate your understanding with the rain this year. Thank you and we look forward to having you back out.
QV review
Greens were sanded and punched. Would have been nice to know before going out. That said, nice layout, open tee shots, but position makes a difference for approaches. Also, cart paths were in need of repair.
Jim, glad you liked the layout and we apologize that you weren't notified of the aeration schedule via email or otherwise. Can you give us a call at (281) 403-5910 and ask for management, please?
Thank you and we're working on a plan to update the cart paths on La Quinta.
Pleasant Surprise
While I was scheduled to play the La Quinta course, when I arrived I was informed that a shotgun start tournament was to tee off immediately ahead of me. When I inquired about playing the other course, the staff were most accommodating in helping make that happen. As I was a single, I was able to tee off immediately and had the course all to myself, which was a very pleasant experience. The course was in great shape despite the recent rain we had. It is designed to be far to all levels of experience. I had a very enjoyable round and will be back!
Yes, Quail Valley is a popular choice for golf events, so we appreciate your flexibility. Come back and play La Quinta soon.
Fun Course
Lots of water features to challenge you and very fun par 3's. Par four's were challenging with a dog leg and some water mixed in for a great challenge.
You must have played well, otherwise "some water" would have been "lots of water". Thank you for coming out!
Great Course for the Price
Houston had a lot of rain a few days before so it was cart path only. Pace was held up by a twosome but the marshals were outstanding in making sure things moved along. No halfway house, but they had ice out with water. Will go back and the course will be more enjoyable when the area is not as wet
Thank you for understanding about the cart path only. Hope to have you back soon. Little-known fact... golf studies have consistently shown that "cart path only" actually speeds up rounds because golfers prepare for their shots concurrently instead of consecutively. Whether the extra walking makes the day more or less enjoyable is a matter of personal preference or even how one is playing that day.
In The Footsteps of Legends
This course is challenging, but remarkably fair. It was the site of the 73/74 Houston Open which means that many of the legends of the game were, at some point, hitting shots from wherever you are on the course. The nostalgia alone is worth the dough. Fairways run quick, greens are smooth and roll great. First trip I'd suggest an extra sleeve in the bag, you're going to lose a few. Great time, great staff. Thanks.
You make us want to take out the persimmon woods and wound balata balls to see if we can get close to the scores from the old Houston Open. Thank you Cabler!
course is challenging, but fun
greens putt true, but tough. nice layout, wide fairways, friendly folks in neighboring homes - many of them waved as we went by..
Thank you for coming out Gordon. The folks in this neighborhood are great, and our staff try to make this venue fun for everyone.
Good course
The overall course is great. Front 9 greens are in a lot better shape than the back nine. Great lay out with challenging greens and bunkers. Will play this course again soon
This traditional layout is tough... almost like old is new again. Thank you for the feedback on the back-9 greens. We are working on it.
Well Conditioned Course
Great course to play, don't expect the staff to speed up slow players though. Overall, had a great time, just wish golfers would play on the tee boxes they belong on and the staff requires they pick up if they're holding up play by teeing off on the back tees when they belong on the forward tee boxes.
Thank you playing at Quail Valley and we're constantly adjusting and working on the eternal pace-of-play quandary.
Great Course!
Great course to play with friends or other players.
It's it a classic isn't it, drjoee. Thank you for coming out!
Not worth $55
Course was not in good condition. Certainly not worth $55.00 weekend rate for La Quinta.
John, we apologize the course didn't meet your expectations. We feel like we're making the most of weather and conditions in the area this year. Hope you give us another try.
Great layout
This was our 1st time to travel from the Heights to Missouri City and play this course. It was worth the drive with the great Golfnow rate.
That's great you made the drive to the Southwest side of town. We're doing our best here to elevate course conditions and make it a fun time here for our guests.
first timer
course was in good shape for winter conditions, fairly fast greens, bumpy fairways. crowded but got 18 in w/ 2pm start. parking is a hassle but there is lots of it, just not near the pro shop. very friendly starter, wish players would listen to him and repair divots!
Thank you playing Quail Valley. Next time you play, we have a drop off area you can drive up to adjacent to the golf shop by the cart staging area.
Golf in January is always a plus.
Course conditions were good, a little wet. Should have been 90 degree rule due to the fact that some people don't know not to drive through wet areas. Also, seemed that some people don't know how to do green repair, lots of spike dragging, and ball marks not repaired. Almost got hit by ball on last hole by impatient golfer. All in all I had a good time. Great course, some bad public golfers.
Locmite, thank you for playing here at Quail Valley and the comment on the 90-degree rule.
Poor course conditions
Laquinta was very wet which really made it unplayable. I like the courses and amenities but if the courses should not be open then do so and don't open for monetary reason.I recommend this course when playable.
Rhumphrey44, we apologize you were unsatisfied with your recent visit. As much as we try to manage all the aspects and amenities of a round of golf here, the weather has just been tough this year. And if you can believe it, like friends in the UK, some folks like the challenge of facing off with El Nino. Nevertheless, a rain check is always an option, so we hope you make it back again. We'll do everything we can to make sure you have a good time out here.
Great Hot Deal Promotion
This former private facility turned into municipal course is finally starting to show why private clubs are better. Starting to get play from a lot of folks that just don't value the facility, very sad! Good deal, and a good layout, just getting beat up more and more.
Good course - slow play
Course - good layout; not overly difficult. However, greens were soft, which made these small greens more accessible. Friendly and helpful staff. Course conditions was fair considering it was December. Would be good value at ~ $40 - a bit pricey at $55. My only complaint is pace of play. At 7:30 in the morning you do not expect a 4-1/2 hour round. We literally waited on every shot. Marshall patrolled the course, but didn't seem to do anything to move things along. Courses (and players) need to learn that slow play is the #1 'fatal flaw' of the game of golf - NOTHING is more irritating.
It's been another tough year with the weather, but we think we've "weathered it well" you might say. Hope you make it back. All the rain was provided a good density of grass to get the course really green and good if we can get some consistent weather patterns. In the least, you should come back to play El Dorado. Thank you for coming out!
