StoneCrest Golf Course

Repeat golfers. Love this course. One of out favorites. Always beautiful, good condition except for the bunkers. Service always great. We will be back.

Last time we went was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The driving range was closed for some unknown reason so we couldn't warm up. It was "cart path only" because they said, "we have a couple of tournaments this week". Yes, there had been some rain but I'll be honest. I paid my green fees same as everybody else and to keep us "cart path only" on a mostly-dry course just because you have "a couple of tournaments" was a pain. This ain't Augusta.

None of the coolers had water. As a matter of fact, one of them had a hole in the bottom so, it obviously hadn't worked in a long time. Not only that but we didn't see the beverage cart once during our 18 holes.

The "sand traps" have "gone to pot" as they say. They are full of weeds and very little sand.

The fairways are good, the rough is nice and plush and the one high mark I will give is the greens. They were smooth and fast and rolled true.

Oh, and we got behind a 5-some at one point. That's just a no-no. Golf play can be slow enough as it is.

This is one of the most beautiful courses in eastern KY. Maybe we just caught it on a bad day and here's to hoping things get better not worse.

Been playing Stonecrest for over 20 years. Played this past Saturday and it appears they’re allowing groups of 5 to play during their busiest hours. Group of 5 took forever, often hitting several shots off the tee in front of us, ranger drove. Y several times and it didn’t appear to help. Took nearly 6.5 hours to play 18. Course was in pretty good shape despite the rain.

Definitely my favorite and the nicest course in the surrounding area by far! You have to go a long way away to find a course as nice as this one and the value for the rice is unmatched!

Great layout with unique holes and great Course conditions, only thing that could be better and worked on, and they actually could use a lot of work, is the bunkers!

Still a must play!

Early March round in beautiful weather (high 70s). The course is in good early season condition. The bunkers remain closed. But the tees, fairways and green were in good form. The greens were putting true and rolling fast for March. The course had a lot of issues with bumpy/burned greens and fairways last year. Hopefully, they’ll hold up better this year and so far, so good. Pace of play was awful (2.5 hours+ to play 9) but it was Saturday and packed! The course is always worth a play though and the staff, facilities, etc are great. It’s a 5 star course when it’s in good condition and the bunkers are kept.

This was a very fun golf course. The layout is one of the coolest and most fun I’ve seen. But three friends and I had a tee time through Golf Now booked days in advance for Saturday morning, and they just randomly cancelled it on Friday night, so it’s like why do you even book tee times through here if they can just cancel it whenever they want to. It was very frustrating. I do want to come back here though because when I played it, it was a super fun and challenging course

Course is on a reclaimed strip mine. Course has large elevation changes and terrific views from the higher points. The conditioning is superb. This course is a must play and worth the effort to get here.

Let me start by agreeing with some of the negative comments about the bunkers need for attention. This is the only thing keeping me from giving the course 5 starts. Some could be eliminated because they are not in play and those that are in play need to be top priority for making this one of the best public golf courses in the country, it’s is that good! I’ve played in nearly every state and this course is far above most public courses except for the bunkers. The pace of play is a bit slow at times and that could be remedied by having rangers that would in a friendly manner inform slower groups that they either need to skip a hole or let others play through. Don’t believe the negative comments about this course or the staff, this is a great course and will not disappoint!
