About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Rolling greens
Alot of contour to most of the greens. Nice and wide open and good for scoring on some holes
It is what it is
Slow pace day. No Marshall no starter. Course was swampy in places. SLOWEST GOLF CART I’ve ever driven.
A hidden gem
We were a little concerned because we were able to get a prime time - 9:08 tee time on a Sunday which raised a question about how good the course was. We were pleasantly surprised. A good layout and an excellent test of our game. We had to resort to all our shots to finish the round Very good condition, from what one of our playing companions said after some rough times recently. Pace of play not great but it was a Sunday morning with excellent weather. We can definitely recommend to anyone.
Okay course at best, probably worth $45-50. Course conditions were okay, greens need to be a little more manicured, group in front of us launched as a 7some as they joked get ready for the longest 6 hours of your life while bantering with each other. Luckily only took us 5
Close to excellent
I love the layout of the course. The conditions are pretty good for fall. My complaint is the greens. While they are fun, good size and shapes, and the speed of them is pretty consistent and medium speed, my issue is all of the little weed patches that are taking over and ruining the consistency of the roll. There is no GPS on the carts so make sure you bring something to show distances.
Golf shop guy wasn’t friendly
Next time when you hand me my cart key, hand me a score card. The cart did not have one.
Great Course for the Money
While the greens are a little bumpy with the overseeding going on now, the course was in good shape. The tee boxes are firmer than other courses in the area and hard to put a tee in the ground on ocasion. But I like the course and play there about every other week.

Awful greens
Greens are covered in goose grass. 3 are completely not puttable.

putting on poa
Good layout, but traps were unplayable after heavy rains a few days before, and fairways are still suffering from the severe freeze in February. Those kind of maintenance issues are understandable, as Texas courses continue to suffer from the after effects of the freeze. However, the greens were infested with out of control poa annua weeds, so we just played "two putts are good." I'd play it again, but it's a shame to see what could be an excellent public course in such poor condition.
