About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Good place for the price
This is a good track for the price of the green fee. Helps to play with someone who has played there. A few tricky tee shots that require local knowledge--but fair.
Greens were in fairly good shape.
Held shots coming in and putting fairly true.
Sand traps need work. More dirt than sand.
Course had no drinking water due to COVID.
Load up on ice and water at 1 and 10.

Good Round
The only struggles with this course is that the greens are rather bumpy - they are struggling with two different types of grass on the green. It appears as if there are several patches of poa annua which altered several putts. Once they get this figured out it will be one of the best courses in the area.

Good Value
We played on a Friday afternoon and started just before 3pm. We barely finished the round. The pace of play was infuriatingly slow, especially on the back 9. The course is in pretty good shape. The greens were slow, but hard. The sand was in good shape and deep enough.

No Marshall - Pace of play unacceptable.
The course is fine but the clubhouse needs some new leadership. I’d recommend twin creeks which is 5 min from this course.

Great Course and in Great Shape for July
Due to the rains, the course was in great shape. Pace of play was wonderful. Got a tad slow on the back 9, but overall a satisfying round.
