About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Great Course and in Great Shape for July
Due to the rains, the course was in great shape. Pace of play was wonderful. Got a tad slow on the back 9, but overall a satisfying round.

overpriced
marginal conditions for a $70 golf course. greens slow and bumpy. fairways and tees spotty. nice layout and facilities but would expect it to be in better shape at the price point.

Always Love playing here
Played a few times now and like the open fairways and variety of holes. Greens are still a bit patchy in places but they have been aerated and are coming back well. The staff are always super friendly as are the other golfers if you get paired up. If you want a nice round of golf that won’t break the bank or your confidence Ridgeview is the course for you

Great course
Loved this course. Little slow today (group in front of us). Hot and sure could have used water or a cart girl. Also, lots of weeds on greens.

Pace of play
It took us 3 hours to play 9 holes. Would definitely recommend this course having a Marshall for the money you pay to play here. Had a foursome in front of us who were being held up by another foursome who had no regard for anyone else. They were allowing their kid to hit the ball 15 times just to go a few yards. Tryin to give him lessons while on the course. I’m all for getting youth involved but people must be considerate of the other groups. We Didn’t have anyone address this until the back nine. Would definitely play other courses before possibly returning here. Staff did apologize for pace of play but that was around the 13 hole, I guess better late than never. We finished in 5 hours to play 18 holes all due to this not being addressed sooner. Definitely disappointed in the experience I had here today.

Excellent course
Really enjoyed my round today. First time to play here. Very pretty…almost forgot I was in Plano. Had a very slow group in front of which kept our pace kind of slow. Some weeds are popping up in greens which sometimes makes for difficult putting.

The fairways were very good for the most part.

Based on many other courses, these greens are better.

Honest review
Hello, This course is a beautiful course. The clubhouse staff, a older Caucasian guy, gave me very unwelcoming vibes. I am a black man. He didn’t greet me as i walked to the counter, so I greeted him. It was my first time playing this course. I had to ask for a scorecard, location of the range, is it a starter that starts you in the right direction, water to wet my towel outside, where is the first hole in location to the clubhouse? I can tell he didn’t want me to be there. But I met a guy on hole number 2 who is retired military and with me being active duty, he made the game very enjoyable. I would not recommend this course to any black players.
Drains well
We were hesitant about playing due to torrential rain overnight. Since the round has been prepaid we decided to chance it, after calling the pro shop to see if the course was even playable. We were told that the driving range was closed but that the course drains well in general. We went as planned and was nicely surprised at how relatively dry the course was. We had a great round. Will definitely play the course again.
