About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Greens are not!
Most of course in ok condition. Bunkers are sketchy. Greens, although recovering, were terrible. Tough to putt not knowing how many bumps outside the hole to line up. Will recover soon, hopefully, but with the amount of play, one wonders how long?
Wow the greens are bad
Horrible greens. I play a lot and these are by far the worst greens in north texas at the moment. I hope they get them back by fall as they were great last fall. Rest of the course is in fantastic shape.
Poor value
This course charges premium price’s compared to other public courses in Collin County. The greens are very poor and have been for quite some time. I have talked to numerous golfers that have decided not to play there.
Best Course thus far !
Hands down the best course I’ve played on. Well up kept and pace was perfect without a Marshall
Course is pretty simple- A lot of straight fairways that aren’t good if you have a slice but are perfect for the draw ...

Sure thing! The greens were in very bad shape. Most of them had ridges from water runoff across the majority of the surface. Made putting well literally impossible. The tee boxes were also very mixed in their quality with some being almost completely overgrown. Other than that, the course was a lot of fun. But for the price, I was disappointed overall.

Great course green were crap
Course was fun but the greens were like playing the cart path with sand and a little bit of grass.

Nice open course good for all levels as have multiple tee options
Enjoyed our first round here - Staff very friendly,
effortless check in and great value. fairways in good condition and generally not too challenging from forward tees. Only reason gave 4 star overall was tees were still a bit bumpy following aeration. Probably need a few more days of watering and sun. Definitely going back here now we ahve the lay of the course.

Greens are horrible
Used to be one of my favorites but their prices kept going up so I had not been there in probably 3+ years.
Tee boxes, fairways, layout, all that stuff is an "A".
But....
They obviously got caught with their proverbial pants down during the abnormal, prolonged freeze in February as the greens are HORRIBLE. Gravel parking lot horrible. After 3-4 holes, we just gave up on putting as it was not worth the effort.
Traps are bad also as they do not drain well and many are a mix of mud and hard pack.
I would recommend the course just because of all the good things about it, but I would be very up front about the greenside issues.
Hopefully they get those things worked out and when they do, it will be a great tract across the board once again.

Don’t book here unless you have a large group
Greens in horrible shape. Group of eight with 6 golf bags in front of us, called into clubhouse - nothing. Finally played through group of 8 on turn and ran into group of 6 on the back nine. Horrible experience.

Sometimes It Sucks
No water on the course yet, even at 99 degrees ambient and 108 degrees heat index. Greens are not worth putting on right now. The chart girl did come around; just not often enough. We were almost finished with the front side before we encountered the cart girl. No marshal on the course. The foursome in front of us was totally unaware, it seems, of our presence. There were two empty holes in front of the them. When we got to number 9, we just drove around them and went to 10. Where's a cop when you need them. Today, in the clubhouse with the A/C.

Parking has always been an issue at this course. Greens are. In terrible shape. Rolling aball across the parking lot is probably smoother. Fairways in great shape.

4x4 will be needed for putting
The ball bounces during tracking to the hole. It physically bounces like a 4x4 truck going down a country road.
This course was decent in the past but it’s really on a downhill slide right now.
4x4 needed for these greens
It’s been a while since I’ve played Ridgeview and WOW the greens are horrible. The ball bounces when you putt. The previous days hole was so prominent that when my ball went over it the ball took a hard 30 degree turn mid putt. HORRIBLE GREENS.
