4th Visit to Benton Hall using GN App
Originally played here last year on a golf society and loved the layout
This is my 4 visit booking via the GN App
Facilities and clubhouse experience always great with all staff welcoming, good food and Drinks
The course is in my opinion a very enjoyable layout with many different types of hole
The greens were in fantastic condition and after the recent rain the fairway and tee boxes also in very good condition
Busier than before but free flowing and got waved through by slower 4 balls a very enjoyable round
The river winds through the course plenty of trees and undulations on the fairways a great place for a round of golf
Beautiful course
Played a round at Benton Hall and I have got to say it’s my new favourite course. The greens were quick and undulating but not too much that it turns into a guessing game, the fairways and rough are well kept and the clubhouse with seating out to the lake was lovely. The course isn’t the longest which suits me but it has a really nice mix of twists and turns though the 18 holes that made it a pleasure to play
Long Grass
A challenging course, that tests your ability to negotiate trees in the middle of fairways, ditches that are not marked very clearly, and in my opinion very poor tee boxes that need work on, managed to lose 6 balls, with one of them a straight drive that just disappeared, not sure id go back in a hurry but all the same a tough course for a first attempt
Will be back.....
Lat minute trip to Benton Hall. Been meaning to have a round there for a while and so took a stroll on my own. Really enjoyed the experience. I know a member and he's not overly complimentary about the course conditions at the moment which suggests that at it's best, its fantastic as I thought it was fine; definitely played courses in much worse nick. Greens were perhaps a little slow but in good conditions; very true. Fairways, good, tee boxes need some work in parts but I can see much of that is in hand. Good layout, you have to think a lot about where to land your ball, front nine friendlier than the back (14 and 15 very tricky if you're playing it for the 1st time - card wreckers! ) Very friendly staff. Will definitely go back.
Not worth the green fee
Overall, this course is fine. But I feel like that's it.
Following a lot of hype & bragging from some members we know I guess we just expected more for the high green fee.
The course is well maintained, apart from one of two tee boxes where the grass was so long you'd lose your tee. But it just never makes you think "cor, this is nice". Some of the greens as well: mainly one and ten are littered in goose poo. It's like a putting mine field. Take £15 or so off the daytime green fee and it fits well: at the moment though, wouldn't rush back.
Great course
Really enjoyed this course, challenging enough!
There were some holes where you could smack the driver and not worry if the big old slice came out to play, which is fun.
Greens were fantastic
I drive past Benton Hall everyday for work and have seen how bad the course has been hit by the amount of rain we have had so far this year. That’s what makes the condition of the course more remarkable. The greens are so good for this time of year and really enjoy the layout of the course. Will definitely be back again soon.
A very interesting and challenging course with the right amount of punishment for poor shots. Bunkers in good condition but as is often the case many suffered with poor raking from previous players . Greens were fast but suffering a degree of damage hopefully this will improve as the growing season is almost upon us. Overall though I would thoroughly recommend this course and will be returning .
Lovely course
Played here many times over the years & never tire of this course.
Always well looked after & maintained. If your picky then the tee areas could be somewhat better but they are certainly not bad.
Practice areas need improving.
Food & drink afterwards always good too.
A hidden gem in Essex
Benton Hall is an excellent golf course with fantastic greens even in the middle of winter
the full coarse was in play with only a couple of temporary tee mats in use
If you have not played this coarse before you should do so if you get the chance.
