Excellent!
First time playing Forresters and it wont be the last. It held up really well considering the dry weather. Tee boxes were decent and the fairways were quite brown, but the greens were excellent, running fairly quick and true. Staff in the clubhouse were really friendly too. Ever so slightly pricey even for a midweek round compared to others but still really enjoyed the round.
Beware of the fast greens!
Booked to play 18 at 13:15, arrived an hour early and decided to have a quick half pint of inches cider and a sausage sandwich before the game, the club house was kept cool with all doors open which allowed for a nice breeze to keep the heat away.
The sandwich was phenomenal, no expense was spared with the quality of the sausages, even the bread was Gorgeous doorstop style, cannot deny it may be one of the best I’ve had.
The half pint of cider went down a treat! The staff are great! Leo behind the bar is and will be one of the friendliest staff members I’ve met on a golf course , I popped into the pro shop to have a look and buy a new glove, Bill gave me great advice helping me choose and the reasons behind the different types the supply. Bill gave me some great insights into how the course was playing and even shared with me how Forresters and other courses compare when it comes to maintaining the courses when the heat starts to burn through in this immense summer heat. He rated the greens as being one of the best in Essex, by god was he right! 10/10 for customer service.
Having played Forrester a fair few times in the past, the course has transformed in the last two years since I’d played last!
Smart tidy tee boxes, beautiful coloured flags marking pin positions with a tidy FP logo. Even the cups had the FP logo, little touches like this make a brilliant difference.
I believe they’ve recently had club competitions, & the greens oh my they were so fast! The pins were in tricky positions so I really feel for the members that had played!
Overall it was hard work it was punishing for a novice like myself! But that didn’t stop me from having such a great time playing!
The course was in such good shape considering the blistering weather, you can really see how much work they’re putting into this course and I can easily see it’s going to be in the top 5 in Essex the way they are going!
Thanks to everyone and il see you again soon!
Now having played Forresters
First time at Forrester Park…but it won’t be my last!
Excellent first time playing Forrester Park.
Club shop was closed on arrival but a sign directing me to the adjacent bar meant a smooth check in and allowed me enough time to have a 20 minute warm up on the range which is less than 100m from the first tee.
A midweek afternoon tee time meant the course was very quiet.
Course in superb condition overall and the greens were excellent. Several sightings of the greenkeepers throughout the round explained why that was the case!
The friendly and helpful member of staff had highlighted a couple of quirky holes that I would encounter but having asked advice on course of a couple of members all were more than friendly and pointed me in the right direction.
Was also waved through by a friendly 3-ball.
All in all a lovely course, offering enough challenge but also with enough forgiveness for higher handicappers.
Am already looking forward to my next visit.
Only played 9 holes walked off reason being taken nearly 3 hrs to complete 9 holes we was a 2 ball
4 ball in front wouldn't let us play thru even thou we counted 1 player in front take 11 shots with still at least 150 yards still to go
Condition of course was great green well maintained bunkers full of sand can't praise the course enough but only see 9 holes of it
So a disappointment for the day
Around the houses
This is a nice course, is well maintained & looks lovely when the sun is out. The holes aren't too repetitive but a lot of effectively dead straight. The biggest downside is the layout: it's a little all over the place & at one point you walk across about 15 yards in front of another tee box to reach your next hole. Others are very close and the constant calls of "fore" feel like the could be coming from any direction! When the course died down a little though, lovely
Narrow course
All in all a good round of golf, course was very narrow, fours being called the whole time your there. The course was in good condition. But the thing that let it down for me, the guy in the pro shop wasn’t that friendly and made me another guy feel abit uncomfortable.
January golf
Good session, the course was in good condition for this time of year.
Golf
First time playing here, thought it was a decent course with different challenges to normal courses I play. Good value for money. The only snag was you can become a little on top of other players on the course but would defo come back.
I was with friends who had not previously played the course all of whom were impressed with the course, it's layout and the friendliness of the staff.
Nice track
Well worth a visit. Good layout with some fairly long and challenging holes. A couple of uniquely ‘odd’ holes, both par fours with a row of trees running right across the fairway between you and the green. If you can hit high irons you’ll be fine, otherwise both are tricky. Small practice putting green, but there is also a decent range. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend and hope to play again in future.
Good Course
Greens in excellent condition. A couple of really difficult holes where you'd better have either a long drive or the ability to chip over 50ft high trees if you don't!
Well worth a repeat visit.
Nice course play a few times unfortunately it’s probably mostly to do with the weather the course was pretty wet under foot tee box’s could do with some work the best part was the greens
Nice layout
1st time I've played the course in over 20 years, it had held up well considering all the rain over the festive period and was in pretty good condition. The greens were very very wet but played remarkably well, only 2 temporary tees. Very slow pace of play sadly due to a senior's competition, but apart from that an enjoyable round of golf.
