Tanglewood Resort Hotel and Conference Center

About
Ralph Plummer worked with Arnold Palmer on the original Tanglewood design back around 1970, and Ken Dye and Baxter Spann came along for an upgrade in 1988. This challenging golf course overlooking Lake Texoma is difficult because of the water and wind. Be ready when you arrive, because the first two holes can ruin your day. Some say that no. 1 is the hardest on the golf course, playing 414 yards into a dogleg that's protected by a fairway bunker. No. 2 is longer at 444 yards -- you'll need a monster tee shot to set up a reasonable approach into the bunkered green. This hole has a slight dogleg to the left as well. On the back nine at Tanglewood, no. 14 goes 230 yards with water on the right, and no. 18 is a reachable par 5 with water in play on the first two shots.

Good Value
Greens are coming back after the Feb snow. Fairways are about 30 days from being OK. They need more rain this week.
Nice views
Lovely course, nice layout, well kept and nice contour to some greens. I will definitely return
First time here
First time here. Early in the year things are still growing. I wouldn’t pay normal prices to play but at 25$-30$ that’s a good price. Greens are fast for now. A lot of areas need grass to grow. But overall not a bad course for the correct price. Very little Covid-19 precautions. But that’s a personal observation.
Staff were great. No issues.
Good course
Good course but it’s still early and the fairways have very little grass. It look like several greens were damaged by the cold weather in Feb.
Tanglewood
Nice course and practice area. Helpful and friendly staff.
Overall conditions are very good and greens are great.
A bit crowded after a full week of snow last week.
Tanglewood Review.
Tanglewood was an excellent HOT DEAL. I drove 1 hr & 30 minutes to play this course for the 1st time. Great staff, driving range was full of balls, greens were well kept, very fast, fairways were as good as any other course in January. Maybe in summer time when it's busier there's a Marshall separating the tee times. My twosome got jammed up with about 10 other guys, (2) 4-somes and a 2-some. At the turn the course freed up and we were able to play without feeling rushed. Actually picked up a gentleman who was by himself and asked if he could finish out with us. Overall excellent experience and very happy. Will definitely be back with 4 - 8 guys.
The course was in rough shape. I was very disappointed. I drove an hour from McKinney to play an Arnold Palmer designed course at a resort, only to find a very neglected, sub par public golf course. This is the worse kept golf course I have played in years. I will not be back.
Nice course Friendly staff great value for the $
Course is very well kept considering the weather conditions. Staff is always very friendly. Great hot deals frequently offered here at decent tee times. My course of choice for the North Texas area (Texoma).
Nice layout
Nice course, pretty good shape, good layoff, but extremely fast greens. Pace of play was decent. Overall, a good place to play.
