About

Holes 18
Type Public/Municipal
Par 72
Length 7016 yards
Slope 132
Rating 74.4

Leon Howard came along in 1972 to help bring golf to the city of Richardson. His first course, called the Course One, is generally a fun-loving layout but serves up two mean, bitter holes. No. 1 is a slicer’s delight, doglegging sharply to the right at 375 yards. Watch the trees that overhang the fairway. Later on, the 588-yard No. 14 is worthy of a deep breath and sip of cold beer–it plays into the wind with water along the right of the fairway and green.

Getting there : From I-75 (Central), exit Renner Rd. and head east for 1 mile to Jupiter. Turn south and drive to E. Lookout Dr.

Sherill Park #2 is great course!

Course #2 is definitely worth whatever you pay to play here and you have no excuse not to play here since they have golfnow deals all the time. Both courses are in great shape right now. #2 fun for all level golfers. If playing from blues, only holes one needs driver is on par 5's. Would highly recommend this course.

Solid Municiple

The cart girl wasn't really that pleasant. Other than that, no real complaints.

Wonderful test of skill

Are you Tired of all the wide open "resort" bomber courses ? Do you enjoy the 'chess match' of ball placement and shot making to master a course. Then you are ready to play this wonderfull D.A. Weibring redesign. Unfortunantly, it is also visited by 'beginners' trying to Learn the game on a course where you have to have 'game' to play. Greens were quite slow from a spring slicing and sanding a few weeks earlier (hopefully they can get them faster - would really help the overall quality of the course) and several 4-somes of slow Hackers slowed play, (there is an excellent range/chip/putt area for those 'learning' to play) but if you can play the right shots on This course then you can play golf Anywhere ! So if you're looking for a good 'thoughtful', challanging, shot makers course and not just another 'modern' bomber course where 'any shot will do', then Sherrill Park is for you !

Great Value for the Money

They pump some rounds through, and the courses are relatively crowded, but overall great course for the money. Pace is a little slow, but I would definitely recommend for a municipal course.

Not so friendly and green in bad shape

They are over-booked and too many groups played in a small course. The path is painfully slow and the green is the slowest I've ever played (not well maintained).

Nice layout

I prefer course one, it is the longer of the two, and has more of an open feel, look and playability.

Big Mix Up on Dates

Due to "error" I find a Sunday tee time which turns out to be Monday tee time on course 1. I pay the local rate for Sunday play because I aint going home now. Good timing always have openings. But Surly Desk clerk is no help nor appologetic. I agree to come back on Monday to play my round on Course 1. Surly guy is back and says too bad I have a tournament on course 1 - go out on course 2. big disappointment, that is a poor consolation prize. I am not offered rain check- "go tell golf now to refund you money, good bye". well good ridance, no more surly guy, too many other better course in the area!

For 20 bucks this deserves an EXCELLENT rating!

Played course 2, course was very healthy, upon getting to the first green we thought we hit jackpot but first green on course 2 was a little rough. Lucky for us though it was the worst green on the course. Most of the greens were great, fairways for 20 bucks were pristine and green side bunkers played well. I will be back for more!

Fun course to play

I really enjoyed my round at Sherrill Park #1. The course is in good condition. The greens are slower than some other area courses, but they roll true. The course is challenging from the blue tees, but it doesn't "beat you up". I will definitely be back!!

not super long but has challenging shots

greens are highly sloped and even if your on with GIR most greens are a tough two putt. be ready to putt well and have inclines and declines on your fairways. fairly well set up as far as selection on pars of holes. fun short course for the money

Sherrill Park is fun to play!

Played the #1 course for my first time in many years. Lots of trees and water, but are well placed and make for a fair opportunity for the golfer to score well. Spring Creek winds thoughout the course and offers a challenge off many tee boxes. The course takes restraint in club selection. One cannot try to overpower the course or horse the ball into play. Take what the layout gives you and pick your fairways to air out the ball. Many large greens so ball placement on the green is a key. Bunkers can be an issue. Greens were aerated and had a coating of sand that made them super slow that day. Otherwise had a great day and will play course again.

Sherril Park is a GREAT deal!!!

I have played Sherrill Park Course #1 quite a few times. the course is making the transition from Winter to Spring so the turf conditions weren't the greatest. The greens were bumpy and kind of long, but once again the course is transitioning. Paid the twilight rate with golfnow discount so it was a great deal for an afternoon of golf.

This course flows really well..

I thought that I was in for a long round when I walked into the club house. Several groups ready to play, but the pace was excellent and actually thought my group was one of the slow ones. Nice layout, several holes are very challenging.

Enjoyed it very much for my first time!

I did enjoy this course, it was moderately challenging because it was my first time. I will most likely return in the near future to play several times. I also enjoyed the concession.

Great Municipal Course

This course is a step above other local municipal courses. It was challenging for the seasoned golfer, yet playable for a less skilled player. I look forward to playing this course again.
