One at Sherrill Park Municipal Golf Course
About
Leon Howard came along in 1972 to help bring golf to the city of Richardson. His first course, called the Course One, is generally a fun-loving layout but serves up two mean, bitter holes. No. 1 is a slicer’s delight, doglegging sharply to the right at 375 yards. Watch the trees that overhang the fairway. Later on, the 588-yard No. 14 is worthy of a deep breath and sip of cold beer–it plays into the wind with water along the right of the fairway and green.
Getting there : From I-75 (Central), exit Renner Rd. and head east for 1 mile to Jupiter. Turn south and drive to E. Lookout Dr.

A Solid Well Designed Golf Course
I like playing at Sherrill Park - both courses. #1 is supposedly the tougher of the two, but I tend to score better here. You will find the #1 course flatter than #2, and the fairways quite receptive - just be sure you hit it in the fairway - watch out for the lakes on the right side of #1 and 10. Water in play on #2, 3, 6 and 17 - I think that's it.
Greens and bunkers in good shape - hit the ball below the pin on #4.
So, I found the clubhouse staff to be a little put off with my Golf Now tee time - not sure they wanted me there. This is the first time this has happened - and one of my playing partners felt the same way.
Great Municipal
I wish the greens were faster. They have restored the greens to a playable level, but their a bit on the slow side.
A nice layout in good condition - was a good value.
The course was in very good condition. The pace of play seems to always be slower than normal. The layout is of average length with lots of mature trees that require you to drive the ball in the fairway which were in great shape - the greens are average in size, which I like, and in very good condition which would allow the backspin to actually stop the ball - not like other greens that are hard as a rock.
Great Value!
Sherrill Park was a great value at <$20 on GolfNow. The course is in excellent shape and the greens rolling as good as they can, which is not the best around.
