Great staff, great course.

Was playing late afternoon with my son who is learning the game. In the interest of not being murdered by those playing behind us while learns we play best ball late in the day.. One of the staff was coming down the fairway and saw my son clearly struggling off the tee. He drove up and I explained he was learning and we wouldn't hold anyone back. .. expecting to be admonished for his struggling swing. Instead he told my son he saw he was a baseball player like his son and told him how to correct his swing without embarrassing him. My son went on to play much better and enjoyed the day.

Not worth playing

I was first excited to see that Peacon Grove was now on GolfNow and quickly booked a tee time. I had played the course about 3 years ago when it was a private course and thought at that time it was in great condition.

When I started playing this morning I noticed that the tee box on the first tee was poorly kept. All of the tee boxes on the Grove course were like this. This was not what I was expecting. The fairways had tons of sticks and branches all over the place. The greens were in horrible condition. There was uneven growth and they had been aerated. These greens look like what you might see on a course you might pay $10 on. I was so disappointed that I stopped playing after 9 holes even though I had paid to play 18 holes. I really wanted to play more so I booked a tee time at another course.

Good value for the fee

Overall I liked this course but it could use a bit of work. Layout was nice, a few tee boxes/fairways/greens were not in great shape. Greens had a fair amount of slope which made for some interesting putts. I played Plantation/Pecan (Grove was closed) and pace of play was great for around 7 holes. Joined up with the gentleman behind me early on but we were waiting on 2 foursomes that were playing at a snails pace. He is a member out there and said this is the first time he has ever had to wait so assume this is not a normal occurrence. I feel it was a decent value although there are nicer courses around.
