Great course and friendly staff - as always!
Always great fun to play at CH. The facilities are nice, the members are welcoming and theyve got a nice patio for post-round beers (not to mention all day breakfast). Practice facilties are OK but you can’t hit woods off the range which is a bummer. The course is interesting even though some of the holes on the back 9 are a bit repetitive. Course conditions usually A1, but after the dry summer weve had, their irrigation system just seemed to not quite be keeping up. I remembered it being nicer last visit. Would recommend overall because its decent value for money and its remote enough so that you dont hear motorway drone in the background like most other London area clubs.
Nice course and club
This is a decent course with quite a few challenging holes. Generally well kept, clean and tidy, and the course was in good condition, especially given the heat we’ve just had. Staff are friendly and the club amenities are good.
Avoid
There are two positives here - proximity to London and friendly staff.
Unfortunately, the negatives far outweigh this. No stretch of the imagination is this value for money - poor tee boxes, bare patches of dirt, inconsistent greens and monotonous holes and rubbish all over the course.
There are a couple of interesting holes on the back 9 - 16 and 17, but the rest are very much unmemorable.
The greens putt fine, but there are huge inconsistencies with how they are prepared, some are watered and allow the ball to grip, whilst others are rock hard and the ball runs off the back, meaning approach play is a gamble.
Fantastic course
Played here on the 13th June and the weather was wonderful. It was the perfect setting with croham Hurst golf club. It is a great golf course, lovely members who were happy to let me through (as I was playing on my own) and later on joined other members to finish the back nine. Picturesque clubhouse that had a full bar available.
Outstanding
Charming layout in excellent overall condition. They are doing some work to some of the paving between holes which means they are rerouting golfers. No issues with pace of play etc.
