About
Falconhead Golf Club sits just west of Austin in the midst of the scenic Hill Country, tumbling across a rolling landscape covered with knobby cedars and towering oaks. The challenging layout was designed to PGA standards, making it one of the most popular public golf courses in the area. The greens are fast and each is protected by at least one bunker. The golf course offers an interesting variety of holes that will require the use of every club in your bag. On windy days, the lengthy par 4s are especially tricky. Golfers will be faced with a variety of challenges on this course including dramatic uphill approaches, forced carries, blind shots, and doglegs. There are also meandering creeks that crisscross the course and a number of ponds that come into play. Falconhead Golf Club's signature hole is the beautiful par-3 17th, which will require your most accurate iron.

Greens like a trampoline
The greens are very bouncy. None of my group could land a full shot on the green without it bouncing over the back. Course layout is good.

Slowwwww
This is a beautiful course and well maintained but consistently overbooked regardless of day or weather. Round took closer to 5 hours than 4 just waiting on groups ahead. I have played here twice and haven’t finished either round due to slow play as a consequence of overbooking.

starter problems
The starter moved us up to put us with another twosome so we didn't get to warm up on the range. We also didn't have range balls ready until it was almost time to tee off. The whole front nine we waited on every tee box for the groups ahead. Even though our start time was moved up, we almost didn't get to finish due to darkness.
The greens were putting true and at a good pace for winter overseeding. Tees and fairways were not overseeded for winter play.

Nice layout need some TLC
Nice layout need some TLC. I play with the grass was dormant, so no good lies in the fairways as would be expected. The greens were in good condition and rolled well.
While of course admitting that I played while the grass was dormant, the course could use a little extra care. It is a very attractive layout but not up to PGA tour standards as it is advertised.

Nice course. friendly staff
Played right after epic Feb 2021 snow & ice storm. Had many broken tree branches, due to heavy ice, but grounds crew was doing an excellent job of clearing the course. and had it in great shape to play. Very friendly staff and overall we had a great time playing there. Definitely will return to play it again.

Good course with pace and bunker issues
First time playing here and I enjoyed both the course and the group I was paired with which was fortunate because it was a 5 hour round. The greens and fairways were in good shape but the bunkers and tee boxes could use some work.

A winter round
I play this course 2-3 times per month. Typically, playing a round here is a delight. The day started with no hybrids, fairway woods, or drivers permitted to be hit on the driving range, as netting on the high school side had collapsed and it was not yet repaired or replaced. Given the recent harsh weather storm, today the course required cart-path-only - this made for almost 4 hrs 45 min round. Further, the greens were not cut and/or rolled to their normal standard, which made them significantly slower than usual; hopefully, they can get the course back to “normal”, as that provides for a dramatically more enjoyable round. Despite these issues, it is still a wonderful experience, which is made even better by staff such as Dave (starter/Marshall).

Great course, but painfully long round
The course is in good shape and a great layout. Lots of new housing construction on some fairways, very loud and an eyesore; will lose some of the natural feel/views and instead be like playing each hole in a housing development. Staff ate both professional and personable. Beverage person visible and professional. My only criticism is that it was a painfully long round - 4hours 45 min long - ON A MONDAY afternoon! There were no marshall sightings. That put a huge damper on an otherwise enjoyable day.
